There are days when I just sit (in the dark) - thinking about what I "could have done" with my life. Have I wasted all this time? What did I accomplish after all this time? Why didn't I do more? What more could I have done? 🤔
Wed morning, I attended the most interesting ceremony - "Blessing the Roses"! 🤔
Why do these Roses need to be Blessed? 😵‍💫😳
81 Roses were blessed as a remembrance of the 81 years since the state of Hawaii was attacked by Japanese planes - "Pearl Harbor" was decimated by bombs, torpedoes, and machine gun fire - from the air. How could one of the most technology superior countries be caught so blind by an enemy of "democracy"??
Too many ships of all sizes, shapes, and purpose along with "THOUSANDS" of men and women in service to America were taken advantage of by a (what would soon be acknowledged as) less accomplished military than our own. It was a very solemn time of reflection and sadness. The weather was not conducive to actually carry out the final part of the ceremony (the "dropping of the Roses" by the Statue of Liberty). That was carried out this morning - the 8th of Dec. There were 81 Roses - one for each of the 81 years since that "day of infamy" was thrust upon an unsuspecting country - the United States of America! "United States"!!!
That was a time when (no matter how you felt about your service) - you did your job to the best of your ability, helped out the guy (or woman) next to you - without 'complaining'!!! You swore an Oath, accepted the seriousness of your contract, and dedicated your efforts to your country - for LIFE!!! 👍👍
The men and women who lost their lives that day inspired a "sleeping giant" by the actions of a tyrant who thought that 'his military' would conquer the USA. 🤔
NOT!!!
He (and "they") soon found out that the freedoms that democracy provides (not 'only' for America) far outweighs the selfish (and narcissistic) desires of a "bully"- from outside our country!
The same thing can be done on a less obvious capability using the advanced technology the world has given birth to. When our leadership is less accomplished and dedicated, the world's "bullies" will find a way to subvert democracy.
My sworn Oath of enlightenment doesn't die until my last breath! Our Constitution was created way over 200 years ago but was "detailed" by the men who led our country to victory over a "bullish" country who thought they could beat anyone they wanted. They were WRONG!
And so it goes - no matter who tries to take America down (even IF it's from "within") - the will of the (free) people who believe in 'our' Constitution WILL PREVAIL.
End of my rant. (Almost)
You have the freedom to disagree (guaranteed by 'our Constitution') if you want, but if you love this country and are not afraid to defend it (by any means necessary) to preserve the freedoms written by men (and a couple of teenagers) who would set up "protective measures" for future generations of Americans, then you will think of what you CAN DO to assist in preserving the Constitution and everyone who defends it - at all cost! 👍

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,

IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO
IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
A SOBER THOUGHT
CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,
I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT HOW I PICTURED
A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO
OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?
CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES
THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS
WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,
THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER
HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
I DROPPED TO MY KNEES
AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED
AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
"SANTA DON'T CRY,
THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS."

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,
I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,
SO SILENT AND STILL
AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,
WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA,
IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,
AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

This poem was written by a Marine. The following is his request. I think it is reasonable.....

PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S. service men and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities. Let’s try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do your small part to plant this small seed.

Kath wanted a slice of Coconut Custard pie for dessert - so I found one, called, and reserved it. 5 mins later I picked it up, brought it home, with a small adornment for my princess. It was great 👍😃

My brother-in-law Buddy Cohen joined us for an awesome Turkey dinner on Thanksgiving Day. He brought along a scrumptious Apple Crumb Pie. We enjoyed each other's company until almost midnight, talking, watching TV, and catching up on "life". Best part was 'NO DRAMA ' from any family!!
I sent my best wishes to all my friends and family for the holidays and reminded everyone that my focus on helping Veterans continues - day and night.
I recently "spoke" at my alma mater about my experiences in the Marines and "Vietnam". There were 2 large groups of students and staff (at two different locations) who seemed to be riveted to my recollection of the brutality I experienced in Vietnam. I told it like I saw it - straight and honest.

Just finished cleaning up after our leftover night. 👍🤔
We still have little more but only enough for one.
Except dessert - we have enough for 3 or 4. 😂😂😂 "Apple-crumb"!! YUMMY 😋
We hope you ALL had a great Thanksgiving day!!! 👍

One "lone little flower" (emerged from thousands of square feet of lawn) - fed by the torrential rain we had all night (last night) and blessed with a light bath of Sun - this morning. 🤔
Mother Nature has her way of continuing life, under her own conditions. 👍
It will be "history" - tomorrow! 😳 😛

Mahsa Amini was a 22 year old woman who was in Iran with her family.

She was arrested by Iranian government authorities for improper wearing of the hijab.

She has died after being tortured into a coma by Iranian authorities.

Torturing anyone is always unacceptable, but to torture this poor young woman for not wearing a head covering properly is horrific.

In response to her murder, her mother said, “Let the world know they killed my daughter.” Authoritarian leaders hope people get distracted and move on.

So please join me in sharing her name and her story.

I feel sorry for people who are incapable of feeling the joy of helping others. Years ago we were all like family. Everybody looked out for one another. We need to go back to that. We have to do better at looking out for each other instead of breaking each other down. I'm going to make a bet, that out of my family and friends, less than 6 will take the time to put this on their wall.

There are TOO many people who are still "plagued" by this devastating poisonous experience that none of us Wanted or needed!! We've lost friends, family, neighbors, and an "unknown" number of future "victims" because the govt chose NOT to warn or prepare us for the inevitable!!
My best friend John Steinmacher died in 2019. He is a Navy vet, served in Nam, and directly handled barrels of this poison.
The ramifications of this deadly fate is projected to affect our genetics for "7 GENERATIONS"!!!!!! 🤬
