Taking a step — and a swing — back in time
A group of Philadelphia area residents have taken a step back in time — all the way back to 1864 — to play the game of baseball as players would have more than 100 years ago. NBC10’s Matt DeLucia has the story.

Twas the night before Gettysburg and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring — not even a mouse.
Cleats painted black,
And uniforms packed,
While coolers were filled with drinks and treats to be snacked.
Players fast asleep all snug in their beds,
While memories of past festivals dance through their heads.
For tomorrow will bring reunion and cheer,
As everyone preps for another great year.
Then Saturday hits with tons of base ball to play,
On 5 different fields and lasting all day!
And when Sunday comes teams play their last games,
Before heading back home in sweat, dirt, and grass stains.

Thank you to all that came out to support us for our last home game of the 2023 season, to both the Providence Grays and Diamond State Vintage Base Ball Club for making the trip to our home field, and to the Elizabeth Resolutes - 1870 Rules Base Ball for rounding out the lineup.
It was a great, and for sure tiring, day for base ball! We will bring our 2023 season to a close on September 23rd when we head south to see the Lewes Base Ball Club.
