Chester County, PA's 19th century base ball team. We are always looking for new members! None of our games are scripted by any means.

We are a 19th century base ball team from West Chester, PA devoted to educating the public about the way base ball was played during the Civil War. We are directly affiliated with the Mid-Atlantic Vintage Base Ball League. We use the same equipment, uniforms, terminology, and rules that were used back in 1864. While we are dressing and playing the part, we are not technically a reenactment. Our games are played at the skill level of our club and the club(s) opposing us.

Taking a step — and a swing — back in time 10/04/2024

NBC10 Philadelphia featured a segment today on our games with the Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelphia at Sellersville’s 150th anniversary! Be sure to check it out!

Taking a step — and a swing — back in time A group of Philadelphia area residents have taken a step back in time — all the way back to 1864 — to play the game of baseball as players would have more than 100 years ago. NBC10’s Matt DeLucia has the story.

Twas the night before Gettysburg and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring — not even a mouse.
Cleats painted black,
And uniforms packed,
While coolers were filled with drinks and treats to be snacked.
Players fast asleep all snug in their beds,
While memories of past festivals dance through their heads.
For tomorrow will bring reunion and cheer,
As everyone preps for another great year.
Then Saturday hits with tons of base ball to play,
On 5 different fields and lasting all day!
And when Sunday comes teams play their last games,
Before heading back home in sweat, dirt, and grass stains.

A day of base ball that started around 9:20am has FINALLY come to a close at 3:50pm. Thank you to all that came out to support us for our last home game of the 2023 season, to both the Providence Grays and Diamond State Vintage Base Ball Club for making the trip to our home field, and to the Elizabeth Resolutes - 1870 Rules Base Ball for rounding out the lineup.

It was a great, and for sure tiring, day for base ball! We will bring our 2023 season to a close on September 23rd when we head south to see the Lewes Base Ball Club.

11am — Diamond State vs Providence Grays
1pm— Diamond State vs Brandywine

We hope you’ll be able to come out and join us for our last home game of the 2023 season! The event is FREE! Just bring a chair/blanket, a cup of coffee, and an umbrella for what should be a great morning of 19th century base ball!
