Surprise! No, we didn’t suddenly have AI write event recaps. These are still the product of human creativity. Or is it? It will be up to you to decide if I pass the Turing test.

I really enjoyed today’s event. We had plenty of familiar and quite a few new parkun participants/fans.

Fastest time: Emmett, who came and conquered, and Emily. Kudos to Matthew, Scott, Mirielle, and April for podium finishes.
Top age-graded: Rolf (77%) and Frances (71%)
Most runs: Bill (376) and Frances (375)
PBs: Joe, Maddox, Matthew, Steve, Manivanh, and Mirielle. Congrats all. Maybe our timing was off, but only for a few seconds. You all looked fast today!
First timers: Emmett, Kevin, Emily, Cormac, Saurav, Sohitri, Esmeralda. Welcome all.
No milestones but upcoming ones: Jaeseok and April. Btw, I (Edwin) accidentally hit 100th volunteer credits a few weekends ago without noticing. Time flies.
Volunteers: Al, Kathy, Kristen, Melissa, Colin, and Edwin

Our youth were well represented (7-17yo) and fast. We are proud of you. You all need to watch your backs because we older folks will always be just behind you.

Krai and Maya got to enjoy their few weekly seconds of bonding time. Somehow, I feel we humans are more vigilant about these encounters than Maya is.

We had a happy camper, an injured soccer player wanna-be (stick to running, no?), full families, parent-kid teams, people in school, and some enjoying retirement. And let’s not forget Bill and Frances, who honored us with their visit, just fresh from hosting the parkrun World Tourist day last weekend at fellow Spring Rock. So we had pretty much all walks of life, all united by positivism and plenty of chit-chat. Not a bad way to start the holiday weekend.

Early kudos to Heritage Harbor, which will be celebrating its 9th anniversary in a couple of weeks. We’ll catch up with you someday. And our well wishes to Michelle O’Brien from Spring Rock, who is still recovering (not from directing or running).

Enjoy the extra time off, if you get any, and let’s continue the fun next weekend.

[write some cool goodbye paragraph at the end, make it sound like it is from me]

May 2, 2026: Cornerstone Lakes Event #157–A chilly morning, with clear skies and minimal wind. Great parkrun weather! Our new sandhill crane friend was not phased as participants ran/walked right past him.

12 finishers and six volunteers made it out the door an hour earlier for our first 8 AM start of the spring/summer parkrun season. We welcomed tourists Sarah (from Australia) and Victor and Paula (from Florida). Sarah celebrated her 50th milestone. Congratulations! Kacy (and Krai) achieved a PB!

The remainder of the 5K crew consisted of Cornerstone Lakes regulars Jaeseok, Andrew, Andy, Alissa, Colin, Orlando, Dave, and Kristen. Jaeseok landed his first 1st place finish of 2026!

A special thanks to our volunteers, Brian, Al, Kristen, Lucy, Tamara, and Colin. Tamara was a first time volunteer, and hope to see her back again one day soon! We have timekeeper, barcode scanning, finisher tokens, and equipment storage/delivery available next weekend. Please let us know if you can help. Don’t forget that we’ve switched to an 8 AM start time.

Happy May!
