Sorry for the delay everyone, its been a long day. But we had another awesome day today with new high scores and almost everyone showing more improvement at 10 meters. You are putting in work and it shows. Really proud of everyone and looking forward to taking the next step next Friday when we change it up a little!

Great job today everyone! Really proud of the progression you are making. Rest assured, you are already ahead of the game regarding much of the competition. Today we focused on 10 meters only, working to max out our scores as much as we can at that distance. We need to get everything possible at this distance before we go back to 15 meters. We will have another 10 meter focus practice next week before heading back to 15 meters.

To get some perspective on the day, here are our team goals at this point for both returners and newbies.

At 10 meters only, our goal is to shoot a 270 minimum if you are a returning archer, meaning you shot for our team last year.

At 10 meters only, our goal is to shoot a 245 minimum if you are a newbie archer, meaning you are new to our team or new to archery in general.

Both of these goals will get changed as we move forward but for now they work. Check out the scorecards to see how you did and if you improved from last weeks score. Looking forward to next Friday already! !

10m only for everyone tomorrow at practice. If you have questions about where to aim, grab an aim point/ask a coach/ask a teammate.

MS- the goal is 46-47 each end, for a score of 140 after 3 ends.
HS- the goal is 47-48 each end, for a score of 145 after 3 ends.

You know how to score 280? Shoot over 140 at 10. The more you score at 10, The easier 15 is.

Some of y’all may be wondering what it means to “practice grouping”. You’ll see in the photos below that none of my arrows are in the middle. I shot the green arrows using the orange dot, and the silver arrows using the purple dot. Here’s what I mean: I aimed the tip of my green arrows at the orange dot and they went into the 5 ring. On purpose. I had the same anchor, the same aim point (orange dot), and the same release…and got very close to the same result. Then I repeated that exercise with different arrows (silver) and a different aim point (purple) and got almost the same results, just in a different part of the target. Because I changed where I aimed, but not anything else, shot-wise. That’s grouping. Now I can move that aim point lower and left/right to group in the center.

Grouping reinforces good mechanics. It’s tough to group if your mechanics are crap. It’s practice without the stress of a score, and for the new archer it is so much more important than trying to put arrows in the 10.
