Classes focus on body awareness, self-regulation, and respecting ourselves in mind, body and spirit. All children are welcome to these classes where they will learn, grow and have fun together. Becca Barnard began working with children over 16 years ago while living in New York City, where she was a preschool teacher in the private school system. She also ran an outreach program for third and fourth graders through the Children's Museum of Manhattan in the Bronx. A dancer since age four, Becca was introduced to yoga by a friend while living in a chaotic city, and found peace through her yoga practice. In 2007, Becca moved to West Hartford and became an Early Intervention Therapist for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In 2008 Becca completed the West Hartford Yoga 200-hour Teacher Training certification program. She has since combined her passions of working with children and practicing yoga, receiving in 2008 her teacher's certification from Next Generation Yoga for children aged 2-6 years old and 7-10 year olds. Under the instruction of Sonia Sumar, Becca has trained in the field of yoga with Special Needs Children. Becca believes strongly in inclusion, and has been a guest yoga instructor with the nationally acclaimed company Unified Theater. For the past decade, Becca has beed teaching kids yoga over at West Hartford Yoga.Her WHY Kids classes are fun-filled, playful and creative, embodying the harmonizing spirit of yoga. Most recently, she began teaching yoga at various preschool programs in the Greater Hartford area and filmed a series of yoga videos that will be featured at the Children's Museum located in West Hartford.
