My name is Steve Lutsk and I'm a personal trainer and fitness model. I've been passionate about health and fitness for 10 years and I want to help you change your life. I wasn't blessed with great genetics or athletic ability. Just a few years ago, my body had zero definition. I had a small beer belly that rested nicely over my waistline. It's fair to say that my body was solely composed of skin, bone and fat. (Notice the lack of the word "muscle.")

I was drinking beer, jager bombs and whiskey 5 or 6 nights a week, eating burgers and fried chicken every other meal and smoking ci******es to handle the stress of college. I was gaining weight slowly and consistently and didn't realize my bathing suit no longer fit until I was actually at the beach. I couldn't lace the draw string through all of the loopholes because my love handles were preventing it from fitting properly. I couldn't even go in the water because the smallest wave would've washed my suit away to sea. I was becoming miserable. I accepted that because of my genetics that this was just how it was going to be. I continued to eat unhealthy, drink excessively, smoke ci******es and gain more weight. Clothes stopped fitting, and it no longer became necessary to wear belts on ANY of my pants (If I could even get them around my waist.) I COULDN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE. I needed to find a solution and I needed a solution FAST. I started working out, stopped smoking ci******es and toned down the boozing. I had early success, but it's hard not to see results when you work out 5 days a week for 2 hours at a time. I knew there had to be a faster, more efficient way to see results. After about 3 months, I was also reaching a physical plateau and getting super frustrated. No one was able to teach me how to get in and out of the gym in less than 2 or 3 hours or get results fast enough to make it worth the time. It didn't make sense to fit working out into my schedule. The Fastest Way To Level Up⁣

When I first tried working out, I did it solo. ⁣

I had no idea what I was doing, and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working.⁣

I failed my first few attempts to “get jacked.⁣

I gave up and swore it off for good, blaming my genetics. I even made fun of people for working out.⁣

“It’s for people with no personality.”⁣
“They’re narcissistic.”⁣
“They can’t find anything better to do than lift heavy stuff like a caveman?”⁣

I felt like crap, had ZERO confidence, partied too much, and dating seemed like a foreign language.⁣

I Take This Much Melatonin…⁣

I always had trouble sleeping when I was a kid. ⁣

I’d lie in bed for hours with racing thoughts, and then struggle to get out of bed the next morning.⁣

I would take things like NyQuil, unisom, and high doses of melatonin for most of my life.⁣

Those would knock me out, but I’d still wake up groggy with a ton of brain fog. I’d be useless in the morning and always struggled with early morning classes.⁣

I’ve had 4 different mattresses since moving to L.A. 😳⁣

After years of struggling to find the perfect night’s sleep, I’m now sleeping well, but always trying to improve.⁣

The BIGGEST changes I’ve made don’t involve supplements, and they’re quite boring, but they work.⁣

The most important thing is going to bed and waking up at the same times EVERY DAY. This one is HUGE.⁣ if you’re not doing this, start there.

This helps your body get into a natural rhythm. You can’t sleep til 11 am on Sunday and expect to wake up at 6 am on Monday without issue.⁣

I DO take a couple supplements.⁣

Low dose melatonin at .3 mg to help my body’s natural rhythm. Melatonin isn’t a sedative and it’s definitely not a natural version of Ambien.⁣

Most people take way too much. If you take 10 mg, that’s 60x more than your body naturally produces.⁣

I also take Xyzal which is an allergy medication. It allows me to breathe better and sleep with my mouth closed, preventing dry mouth, and the need to drink a ton of water and take bathroom breaks.⁣

Finally, I take magnesium. It naturally reduces stress and helps your muscles relax. A lot of people are magnesium deficient and don’t even know it.⁣

Other things I do include wearing blue light blocking glasses at night, not using my phone within an hour of bedtime, and doing some light mobility/stretching while watching tv.⁣

It’s important to have a nighttime routine. Winging it doesn’t work for most people.⁣

If you’re not getting at least 7 hours of sleep a night, you could be doing a huge disservice to your body/wellbeing.⁣

Don’t ignore your weaknesses.⁣

Ignoring them will only exacerbate the problem.⁣

I used to only train my legs once a week. I did this for years.⁣

I never skipped leg day, but I have horrible leg genetics so it definitely looked like it 😂 ⁣

After seeing some pictures of myself and reading some troll comments, I FINALLY decided that something needed to change.⁣ @chrissmithtraining still makes fun of me every time we train.

For the last couple years I started hitting legs 2-3 times a week, and always START and END the week with leg day.⁣

My entire body benefitted from this!⁣

The hormonal changes that occur when you squat twice a week are so drastic that even my upper body got bigger and stronger.⁣

I now look forward to leg day (even with my stubborn AF calves.)⁣

This concept goes way beyond improving your squats and lunges.⁣

If you ignore your health, you’ll become less healthy.⁣

If you ignore your credit card debt, it will soon cripple you financially.⁣

If you ignore your education, you’ll struggle to find employment.⁣

The list goes on, but you get my point.⁣

When you prioritize improving your weaknesses (in life AND the gym) then you’ll slowly bring them in line with your strengths.⁣
