David Gravel Racing - Behind the Scenes

While racing last month in both Kentucky and Indiana with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series we heard about two organizations in need of some help.

The Bethany House Abuse Shelter in Somerset, KY, provides safe and secure emergency shelter and services for victims of domestic violence and their children. They serve a ten county area.

The YWCA Evansville, IN, serves women and children that are victims of abuse, and provides temporary housing as well.

David Gravel Racing sent each of them about $1200 in personal care items, such as hair and skin care products. We hope to be able to help them both again in the future if they need it - and feel free to do the same if you so choose.

We spend a lot of time on the road traveling with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, and we meet great people doing fantastic things. Last week was no different:

First Light Mission is a 501c3 non-profit homeless shelter in Goshen, Indiana. In 2023, they helped 200 guests experiencing homelessness, primarily single females, and those with minor children. Guests will typically stay for 30 days.

DGR met with some of their staff, and we were able to provide them with $3,500 worth of high quality personal care items, such as hair, body, and skin care products - and a case of shaving kits.

Good morning from Attica 😡

The Ohio Turnpike SUCKS - but not totally.
Let me explain:

The Turnpike is a toll road. An EXPENSIVE toll road.
With our toter, along with the trailer, it's...an expensive route.

However...there is a good side.
On the road, there are waysides / travel stops. And these areas have RV parking with hookups!
But also FREE water and tank dump areas!!!
So, at least you get a little something extra.

That being said, here are some pics of me filling and dumping on my way to Attica this afternoon for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series show tomorrow night.

THIS is why you DON'T stand by the fence.

We grabbed a BIG win a couple weeks back when the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series came to Jacksonville, IL...but we left a nice BIG gift for the community before we rolled out of town.

Paws Jackson is a non-profit 501(C)(3) State Licensed, No-kill animal rescue group. Their mission is to provide a safe locations for animals in the area to rest, recuperate, and find new forever homes.

Founded in 2011, they've rescued over 9,000 animals, thanks to their army of volunteers.

David Gravel Racing sent them almost $1,000 in high quality natural & organic pet shampoo, conditioner, detangling spray, and bunch of Magic healing spray for cuts, rashes, and hot spots.

We may have left town with the trophy and the check...but there's a whole big group of pets there that I'm sure are happy we came there.

Well, Day 2 at Williams Grove.
Load-in for the rigs just got pushed back 2 hours due to the track and ground still being wet from the rain, so I'm still parked at the hotel.

I would say 50-50 chance we get the show in today, BUT I'm staying positive: We NEED to race.
