I can do it ALL! Said women around the world. And then we try. And then we don’t understand why we’re exhausted, can’t sleep, and our pants don’t fit anymore.
WTF?
It is true- we CAN do it all...but should we?
I grew up with a mom who never slowed down. I mean NEVER! Shocker- I internalized that work ethic, even though I don’t agree with it. Plus- even worse- it’s not who I am!
I KNOW that I am a better person when I:
Slow down
Take my time
UNDER schedule myself
Give myself lots of space for downtime
Am I doing that right now? NOPE! Am I a total stress case? YUP!
I am doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.
So...now what? Keep going until I crash and burn? That’s what I would normally do, that’s what I’m familiar with, but I know that doesn’t work. Can I do something differently? If I knew how, sure...but wouldn’t I do stuff differently if I knew how?
That’s where things get tricky. Most of the time we know what we SHOULD do...but it’s really hard to do things differently.
How do we create new, healthy habits? One step at a time. It takes small steps.
We create new healthy habits by practicing.
I’ve realized I’ve overscheduled myself this week. I have two choices- keep pushing and hope for the best...or take a look at my schedule and see what I can let go of. I’m going to try the latter.
Today, instead of reaching for a mid afternoon caffeine boost, try doing 10 minutes of movement. Check out my Gentle Yoga Flow on YouTube. If you’re still exhausted after the session, then have a cup of Green Tea👍 Or whatever you like!!!

Feel Good Fitness! That's what my "fitbreaks" are all about. When you're first starting to build new healthy habits, it's important to make the process as easy and enjoyable as possible.
Think about a time you went on a diet (yuck). You probably kept counting the days until you reached your goal and then could start eating the food you actually liked...which is why diets don't work.
Developing healthy long-term, sustainable habits is the key, and they way to do it- make it enjoyable! Yes, you need your vegetables, but make the veggies taste good! Don't sacrifice enjoyment in the name of health- it don't work!
Same with exercise. Do stuff that feels good as you're doing it👍
Start with my fitbreaks- short, simple, easy workouts you can do in the privacy of your own home. Use my fitbreaks as a way to get extra movement into your workday! It's good for your body AND your mind❤️

It sucks to being "the new kid". It especially sucks being new to exercise. You look around and it seems like everyone else knows what they're doing! Or you see people who are already "in shape". They're not turning bright red on the treadmill- what's up with that?
We've all been "the new kid". Do you remember how you felt once you weren't the new kid anymore? Like when you moved to a new town or started at a new school. The first few days were tough because you couldn't even find the building where your class was, but after a few times, you found the quickest route and you stopped being late for class!
Exercise is the same thing. Once you get the hang of, it gets a lot easier!
Start with stuff that's easy to follow and easy to do. Let yourself get used to it. You're getting "in shape" as you're learning!

Yes, I am a health coach.
Yes, I want something from you. Actually I want something FOR you. I want you to start moving everyday so you can start enjoying the benefits of a consistent fitness program.
It’s not sexy. It’s not exciting. Sorry! Why do I want this for you? I believe that when we feel better, we do better. When we do better, the world is a little kinder, gentler place.
Fitness has been my way of making the world a better place for 25 years.
Now, exercising for 10 minutes is not going to stop global warming or end racism, but maybe- just maybe- if we start having a bit more energy, a bit more strength, maybe we WILL have the motivation to go and fight the good fight!
Last night I had an assignment for my Cultural Psychology class about oppression- specifically how violence is used to oppress. I chose to focus on violence against women. I first started working out because I wanted to be strong enough to A) Fight Back and B) Run Away as fast as possible. Here I am, 47 years old, and nobody messes with me. I am one of the lucky ones, but it’s not just luck. I got myself in shape and I’ve stayed in shape.
I don’t workout to look good. I workout to be strong, to be fast, to be agile, so I can live a life of freedom and independence.
What would you do if you had confidence in your physical abilities? What would you do if you had the physical strength and the physical endurance?

Let’s take a Cardio Break!
😁Here’s the deal my friends. We are working out for the wrong reasons!!! Instead of working out to lose weight or to punish ourselves for eating something “sinful” like Carbs (oh no!!!), let’s workout to feel good. Wait, what?
😁Yeah- let’s workout to feel good- and not just to feel good after, but DURING our workout.
Did your head just explode?
😁What does that look like? Let’s think about what it would FEEL like. If we start doing things that feel good as we’re doing it, we’re more likely to stick with it. So if we’re starting an exercise program, the best way to get consistent is to do stuff you like to do.

Today is a Cardio Break- 10 minute HIIT- all Low Impact!
Wait a second- I’ve got a question for you. Why aren’t you exercising? Do you just not like it? Do you know why you don’t like it? There’s a lot of reasons not to like to like exercise...but there are also a lot of things to like!
Here’s a reality check...actually it’s a “well duh” moment. We have a bit of a weight bias in this country, and unfortunately many of us have internalized this weight bias, meaning even though logically we understand that everyone is awesome, we’ve been taught that skinny people and fit people are “more attractive”, which is B #$%S #$%
To me the scariest part of this Internal weight bias is that when we have that belief, it actually makes us adverse to exercise- like it makes us NOT want to exercise even more🤬🤬🤬
This is not good!!!
My solution? Don’t workout to lose weight- f #$% it. Workout to FEEL GOOD! Feel good fitness!!! That’s what I’m selling here at EZ Fit in 10- feel good fitness.
Exercise to feel good- reduce anxiety and depression (naturally), increase energy (naturally), get buff ( I think buff women are cool).
We’ve got to take better care of our bodies. I know it’s none of my business, but I want you to be healthy AND happy. Now if donuts make you happy- cool- keep eating donuts, but just ‘cause you ate a donut doesn’t mean you can’t do a fitbreak!
So come on- let’s do a fitbreak!
