A good technique for fall fishing in Maine. Grab a couple of jigs and a few trailers and head out to the ledges and humps early. Look for baitfish tightly grouped up and there are usually fish around them
Forwarded facing sonar definitely helps you figure this out quickly. Before you leave the spot try atleast 2 or 3 different weights or slim up or fatting your trailer. The drop rate can be critical. Remember the baitfish is key on the size that you are throwing.
We have heard match the hatch and it is true. The baitfish are small, this year's little ones. The fish eat these guys like we eat a bowl of popcorn. If no reaction on the jig, dropshot, ned rig, a 3 inch swimbait maybe the deal. Look for banks that wind push into and you will soon find the baitfish. Keep moving until you find the fish. God luck and tight lines.
