It’s cross-country season in New England.
You’ve probably seen the memes about XC parents running almost as much as their kids, trying to catch a glimpse of them before they disappear into the woods again.
They’re funny because they’re true. But beneath the chaos, there’s something pretty special happening.
Kids are getting outside. They’re running through fields and wooded trails, learning how to work through discomfort, support their teammates, and discover what their bodies can do.
Some will keep racing for years. Others may eventually find different sports or interests. But the confidence, resilience, friendships, and connection to the outdoors they build along the way may stay with them for a lifetime.
Here’s to cross-country season in New England. 🍂🏃🌲
