Not the weekend we wanted in Miami, but this is what we needed. Unfortunately, mistakes won this weekend and cost us a shot at the podium on Saturday.
With that said, this Round 3 Racing crew showed amazing perseverance and commitment to try and keep us on track all weekend, despite several mechanical and electrical issues. Friday brought first rain of the weekend, and the experience of “Lake Turn 6”. Lots of flooding and lightning caused us to only get around 20 laps of practice between the three drivers, and very little time to dial in setup. Despite that, Thomas Bellemin put the car P3 to start the 12 hour race Saturday.
Saturday started really well, with a great first stint from Thomas keeping us right with the leaders. A small mistake on the first driver change dropped us out of the pack, but still in the fight. Then came the challenges. With a dying battery, it meant very little cool-shirt, bump-starting the car every stop, and very challenging driving situations. Ultimately we needed to change the battery just to make it to the finish.
I need to give a huge shoutout to this entire Round 3 Racing group for pushing through and giving 100% the entire weekend. Even though this may not be the weekend we wanted, I believe it’s what we needed. My teammates Thomas Bellemin, Olivier Piatek, and I are full focus forward to prepping for Daytona, and we are ready to bring the fight. The countdown is on, 50 days to qualifying for the season finale. Let’s go finish what we started!👊
