🏁 You can take the driver out of the race car, but you can't turn off the racing brain.

He's been sitting in the grandstands for 20 minutes and already has 47 ideas for next season. 🤣

New setup ideas, changes to the car, things we're going to try, parts we probably don't need, and a whole new list of ways to spend money.

Off-season? More like planning season.

Any other drivers guilty of this? Or is it just us?! 👇

We're taking the BLUE #35 to Fall Fest in Westfield, WI, and we're calling on our racing family to help us make it an unforgettable night for the kids!

We're expecting to see approximately 200 KIDS throughout the event, and we want to make sure every single one of them leaves with a smile! 🧡

🍬 We're looking for donations of individually wrapped candy and other kid-friendly (bonus points for race related!) goodies to help us make this event extra special. Brooke Scott will be putting together gift bags for the event, so if you're a local business and want to include coupons or other goodies, that works, too.

Wife POV: The only “vacation” she gets all year…

Chillin’ in the sun, soaking up the racing atmosphere, waiting on the first heat race like she doesn’t have a whole race team’s schedule memorized. 💚

Meanwhile, I’m over here calling it a *vacation* while spending the entire week working on a race car. 😂🔧

Marriage is all about compromise… she gets the sunshine, I get the race track, and our bank account gets absolutely NOTHING.💸

Big 8 Late Model Series Under New Leadership

(Oregon, WI) - Madison International Speedway owner Gregg McKarns will take over ownership of the Big 8 Series, bringing his involvement with the series full circle as it enters its next chapter. McKarns helped found the Big 8 Series alongside the Deery Family in 2004 and was Series Director through 2014. More than two decades later he returns to the series in an ownership role bringing a longstanding connection to the Big 8 Series and short track racing.

"There is a special place in my heart for Big 8," noted McKarns. "We have something special here in Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest. We want to continue to strengthen weekly racing throughout the region. I don't have many hobbies outside of short track racing. I used to refer to Big 8 as what I did instead of fishing.....I'm looking forward to getting back after it."

The Big 8 Series was built on bringing together the best Weekly Warrior Late Model drivers from tracks across the region to compete against one another on a bigger stage. Designed around eight major events, the series gives drivers the opportunity to travel to different tracks throughout the Midwest while still being able to support their home track.

Alongside the ownership transition McKarns has appointed Alex Gilhart as Series Director of the Big 8 Series. Gilhart has worked alongside McKarns since 2016 and brings experience in motorsports marketing, working with multiple racing series, along with serving as an official at several tracks throughout the state of Wisconsin.

“I am excited to work alongside Gregg and support the Weekly Warrior Late Model drivers that make short track racing what it is today. These teams and drivers are the backbone of short track racing and I look forward to helping provide them with opportunities to compete against the best in the region while continuing to support the local tracks that make our sport possible.”

There is an informational meeting set for Saturday January 9, 2027 during the Midwest Racers' Expo in Fond Du Lac, WI. Discussions with tracks and sponsors are already underway for the 2027 season, with additional announcements expected in the coming weeks.

🏁💚 ONE HELL OF A SEASON. ONE HELL OF A RIDE.

This one is straight from the heart about our first trip to La Crosse Speedway for Oktoberfest and the end of our Big 8 Series season.

We came into the weekend excited for a new track, ready to give it everything we had, and ended up taking home BIG 8 SERIES ROOKIE OF THE YEAR! 🏆

Was it the ending we wanted? Not even close. After all the work, the preparation, and the excitement, a slipping clutch brought our feature race to an end after just ONE LAP. 💔 Sometimes racing will humble you faster than you can get up to speed. 😂

But when we look back at this season, that one lap doesn't define us.

We started this journey with big dreams, put in the work, faced the setbacks, had some incredible moments, and accomplished something we're incredibly proud of. This season was full of unexpected twists, lessons, laughs, and memories we'll carry with us for a long time.

To our family, our crew, our sponsors, our fellow racers, and every single person who cheered us on, encouraged us, and supported G. Scott Racing this year — THANK YOU. You are a huge part of this journey, and we couldn't do it without you. 💚

Racing is about so much more than checkered flags and trophies. It's about the people, the friendships, the lessons, and having the courage to chase a dream even when things don't go your way.

We're proud of what we accomplished, grateful for everyone who helped make it happen, and already looking forward to coming back stronger in 2027! 🔥🏁

And hey… at least we only had to make it around the track one time before the winter repairs started. 😂🔧

Last night we had our final night under the lights for the 2026 season running in the Big 8 Series Championship Night at LaCrosse Speedway.

Garrett earned Rookie of the Year with the Big 8 🏁💙💚 (Full race season recap coming soon)

The final fireworks. The final night at the track. Another season full of memories, hard work, and a whole lot of passion for this sport we love.

To our crew, partners, family, and race fans — thank you for being part of our journey. You make every lap, every late night, and every mile worth it.

The cars may be parked for now, but the countdown to next season has already begun. 😉
