I wanted to share an op-ed from Larry Pizzi, the CEO of Pedego and also a member of PeopleForBikes.org. Larry addresses some of the issues surrounding proposed regulatory changes to ebike rules. Please feel free to share.

Guest editorial by Larry Pizzi: Trail access matters β But so do cities, seniors, and new riders
Hans Rey is right about one big thing: if we blur the line between bicycles and small motorcycles, especially on natural-surface trails, we risk losing hardβwon eβMTB access and public trust.

TL/DR: Notice from CalBike about legislative action that could have a drastic impact on ebikes in California. Survey link for AB 1942 below.
AB 1942 would require Class 2 and Class 3 e-bikes to register with the DMV and display special license plates. Cal-Bike's position is that the bill as written is not aligned with the real safety concerns posed by on our current roadways. Road fatalities in California continue to rise but they are much more likely to result from speeding oversized automobiles than even the most high-powered e-bike. Throwing roadblocks in front of folks making sustainable choices does not make sense. Not to mention the costs and paperwork involved in creating another layer of bureaucracy for registration and enforcement.
Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan has a public survey on this bill. Make your voice heard by taking the survey here: https://click.everyaction.com/k/125665169/602563159/-1982847125?nvep=ew0KICAiVGVuYW50VXJpIjogIm5ncHZhbjovL3Zhbi9FQS9FQTAxOS8xLzExMTI1MSIsDQogICJEaXN0cmlidXRpb25VbmlxdWVJZCI6ICI1YWEyYjZmZi00MTBkLWYxMTEtYTY5YS0wMDBkM2E1NzU5M2YiLA0KICAiRW1haWxBZGRyZXNzIjogImluZm9AcGVkZWdvMTAxLmNvbSINCn0%3D&hmac=_hRoHLlLJUU_ZtOv2kgYnNa2OThLYewujDAZakv5NMU=&emci=a67bbdf9-410d-f111-a69a-000d3a57593f&emdi=5aa2b6ff-410d-f111-a69a-000d3a57593f&ceid=2186657
