Perfect weather for a great parade. Westport-Weston CERT honored America’s military yesterday, marching in Westport's Memorial Day parade. Right behind us was Grand Marshall and WW2 Paratrooper Ben Pepper.
This was our first march since COVID. After COVID hit, we were activated numerous times, helping oversee the distribution of 20,000 face masks and assisting in multiple COVID vaccine clinics. Several of us even became volunteer contact tracers after receiving our certification from Johns Hopkins University.
We are thankful for the huge sacrifice that our armed forces have made for us over the years and are forever in their debt.

Westport CERT members Lourdes and Sergio Roque assisted Stamford CERT at the Stamford Balloon Parade on November 20th. They were assigned to a traffic detail responsible for pedestrian safety.
It was a cold and windy day (wind chill in the low 20's). They said they were well prepared, dressed in multiple layers, and were glad to be able to assist. The parade was estimated to have had 125,000 attendees.

Westport-Weston CERT assisted at a clinic yesterday where approximately 700 children between the ages of 5-11 received their 1st Pfizer dose. The clinic, held at the Staples High School Fieldhouse, was overseen by Dr. David Krol and the Connecticut Children’s Hospital.
CERT members greeted the parents and children, took temperatures and asked COVID-related questions before parents and children entered the building. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal visited and spoke to many of the volunteers.
The clinic was a big success and we are looking forward to assisting when the 2nd Pfizer dose is administered.

Remembering those we lost that day and the heroes who responded.
Nineteen years ago today our world changed forever. Today we remember the families of the fallen, the first responders, and honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice defending our people.
