Yesterday was an eventful day at United Karting - BWI for race #2!

Practice: P4 out of 11

Qualify: P6 out of 11 — only 0.07s separated 4th, 5th, and 6th!

Pre-Final: Got spun on the start, climbed back to P7, then got pinched into the barrier while making a pass attempt for P6. Race over. 😞

Dad, with the help of the Skaags family got to work — bending, banging, and straightening parts to get the kart back together just in time for the Final.

Final: Started P11, finished P7.

We learned lots, found plenty of opportunities to grow, and had a blast with track friends!

Thanks to Snap Ya Neck Racing, Gold Kart, and coaching from Hudson Brown that gave us the speed to compete! Hopeful next race, we get a chance to use it towards the front.

The pieces are comin together and we are finding our rhythm.

We had our first race of the season yesterday at United Karting - BWI. It was a 🥶 day (40s). We had a rough practice but gained speed for qualifying, where we qualified 7th out of 11.

We continued to gain speed through the pre-final and final, competing for 5th at times, to ultimately finish 7th.

Massive thanks to Hudson Brown for his coaching and setup, which helped us gain 1.5 seconds/lap from qualifying to the final!!

Couldn’t be done without Snap Ya Neck Racing’s power and quick Gold Kart

We’re lucky to have an indoor go-kart track so close to home! 🏁 We stopped by Adrenaline Raceway to run a few laps and were impressed. Great local setup, friendly and experienced staff, karts with electronic seat and pedal adjustments, and a track that’s perfect for practicing the fundamentals.

If you’re in the area, be sure to reserve your spot during the soft opening!

We wrapped up our last Sandy Hook Speedway club race on Sunday, closing out a strong first year of karting!

Huge thanks to Snap Ya Neck Racing for providing a fast motor and Gold Kart that helped us build a solid foundation this season.

By the numbers:
• Qualified: 7th of 11
• Heat: 7th → 7th
• Main: 7th → 6th

Highlights:
✅ New personal best lap time
✅ Tested more setup changes
✅ Played catch with friends
✅ More SNES time thanks to the Miller family!

We couldn’t be happier with the friends we’ve made and everything we’ve learned and accomplished this year. We’re already looking forward to growing even more next season.

Congrats to Decker Racing on an smokin fast 💨 new PB and another win! 👏

TL/DR: Oliver got his first karting podium with a 2nd🥈 place finish!!

Leaving quarter midgets behind and jumping into something completely new was a bit scary, but an important decision for growth. We weren’t sure how we’d adapt, or how long it would take to be competitive. We only knew two things for sure: 1) Oliver was gonna have to turn right and 2) the mechanic (Dad) wouldn’t have to scrape tires.

We kept goals simple and flexible, some days focused on a single corner. Yesterday’s Sandy Hook Speedway club race was a day where the seasons grind started coming together!

Personal bests:
✔️ A personal best qualifying position
✔️ New personal best lap time
✔️ First karting podium

Stats:
- Qualified 4th of 9
- Heat 4th to 4th
- Main 4th to 🥈

Congrats to Cole Decker Racing on an impressive win with a crazy quick lap time, and Brinck Racing with a p3 finish!

Huge thanks to Snap Ya Neck Racing for the fast motor and Gold Kart AND for coming through last minute with parts to ensure we stay on track!

This weekend we got to try Sandy Hook Speedway Kart Um Downs!
We only raced in 1 of the 2 days, but it was action-packed with two track layouts, each with a practice, qualifying, and feature.

The results might not shine, but the learning sure did. Every time on track Ollie got faster. We figured out some tricks to help adapt to new layouts and even tried some setup adjustments.

Out of 6 drivers, we qualified and finished 6th, except in Race 2, where a great start, put Ollie in 5th and he was able to hold it to the end!

And hey… we even worked on our publicity skills (our driver wasn’t exactly in the mood for interviews 😂).

Thanks as always to Snap Ya Neck Racing for the fast motor and Gold Kart!
