The New York Tigers would like to take the time to acknowledge the late great former Team Captain, Anthony Mariano by retiring his number 2.
Mariano was the Tigers’ starting catcher from 2012 until 2015, instantly becoming the backbone of the team. A man of very few words, he brought a gritty, no-nonsense attitude that both calmed and focused the Tigers—propelling them to becoming MABL Champions! Anthony Mariano was beloved and is sorely missed by his family, friends, and teammates. #2
Tune traveler? 😂

The Tigers advance to the finals after taking 2 out of 3 this past Saturday against the 1st seed Long Island Warriors. After losing the first game, the Bengal Boys won game two behind starter Mark Vollaro who went 8 solid innings rendering just 1 earned run. Third baseman John Galligan continued his 2021 offensive onslaught lacing a 3 run double against The Warriors all star southpaw ace, Frank Buongervino. With the Tigers clinging to a 5 to 2 lead, the field curfew interrupted the game with just one inning left. The game would be picked up days later at John J. Burns park. After the Warriors put some pressure on with a few base runners and a run scored, the Tigers were able to get the 3 outs and secure the victory. The winner-take-all game 3 followed directly after. Tigers Starter Frank Buquicchio, who pitched the final frame of game 2 minutes earlier took the hill for game 3 and went three solid innings. The Tigs then gave the ball to starter Ned Franklin who worked out of trouble, battling hard to lead the way and give them the victory to punch their ticket to the finals! The Tigers fielding saw many great plays during this series including serval diving catches in the outfield, by Greg Hotzoglou, Steve Traietta and Josh Carreras who ended the game with a diving web gem for the last out which was the exclamation point on what has been nothing short of a storybook run! The Tigers look to continue this magical quest and are set to face the formidable New York Grizzlies in the MSBL championships this weekend. Game 1 of the best of 3 series begins this Saturday afternoon at Eisenhower park field A at 1pm!
