WFISD Athletics Announces Inaugural Hall of Fame Class

WICHITA FALLS, Texas — WFISD Athletics is proud to announce the 12 inductees who will make up the inaugural class of the WFISD Athletics Hall of Fame. The class represents some of the greatest athletes, coaches, and contributors in the history of Wichita Falls ISD athletics.

The inductees will be honored during a pregame ceremony before the Legacy vs. Memorial football game on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Memorial Stadium.

"We're incredibly excited to officially launch the WFISD Athletics Hall of Fame by recognizing such an outstanding inaugural class," said WFISD Athletic Director Devon Dorris. "Our selection committee had the difficult task of choosing just 12 inductees from the rich and storied history of WFISD Athletics. This group represents excellence, leadership, and the lasting impact that generations of athletes, coaches, and contributors have had on our schools and our community."

Throughout this week, WFISD Athletics will feature each inductee with individual profiles highlighting their remarkable careers, achievements, and contributions to the rich tradition of athletics in Wichita Falls ISD.

The Greatest Texas Tech Football Player To Wear The Number 47
Jonathan Hawkins

Jonathan Hawkins was one of the more versatile players of the early Mike Leach era at Texas Tech, contributing on both offense and defense during his Red Raider career from 1997–2001. He began as a running back before transitioning to linebacker, appearing in 44 career games. Offensively, Hawkins rushed 72 times for 270 yards and one touchdown, while adding 32 receptions for 349 yards and one receiving touchdown, finishing with 619 yards from scrimmage and two total touchdowns. He also contributed on special teams with 94 kickoff return yards. After moving to linebacker, he developed into a key defensive contributor, recording two interceptions for 20 return yards during his senior season. Hawkins' ability to successfully switch positions and contribute on both sides of the ball highlighted his versatility and value to the Red Raiders throughout his career.
