Cristiano: "I have to thank my old friend Albert Fantrau for my success. We played together for the same team in the U-18 league. When a scout came to visit, he said that whoever scored the most goals would join the academy.

We won this match 3-0. I scored the first goal then Albert scored the second with a lovely header. But the third goal was impressive for all of us. Albert was in a one-on-one with the keeper, he fooled him and I was running behind him. All he had to do was score the goal but he passed to me and I scored the third goal, so I got the place to go to the academy.

After the game I went to see him and asked why? Albert said 'Because you (Ronaldo) are better than me'.

So journalists went to Albert's house and asked if this was a true story. He said yes. He also said that his playing career finished after this match and that he was now unemployed. 'But how do you have this amazing house, you have a car? You look like a rich man. You can also look after your family. Where does this come from?'

Albert proudly replied: 'It's from Ronaldo'!"
