1986 Raleigh Record — all cleaned up and ready to ride. 🤘

This one came in as a seriously cool fixed gear conversion, and it was a blast getting some love back into this old Raleigh.

Full clean, detail, and l**e to finish it off. Sometimes a bike doesn’t need much — just the right attention to bring it back around. 👌

Alright y’all… fixed gear bikes are pretty savage when you really think about it. 😂

All momentum, and you are basically the brakes against your own inertia at all times.

This one started life as a 1986 Raleigh Record, a 21 speed road bike! But somewhere along the way this drivetrain got swapped over and turned this old road bike into a fixie.

There’s just something really cool about a bike this simple. No freewheel, no coasting, just rider, bike, and momentum all working together. This old Raleigh has a whole different personality coming out now that it’s cleaned up.🤘

Well… we’re working on something a little different this weekend 👀

First fixed gear fix-up to roll through Packard Bike Wash & Service. I may be a BMX guy at heart, but a cool bike is a cool bike.

😳MAKING ROOM IN THE SHOP, FOR SALE👍

This bike has treated me well over nearly 300 miles but I found a lighter frame and fork combo so I upgraded, I did steal a couple things during the switch to the new frame so I’m just going to list out what you need to get rolling and can even provide quotes to get it done for you. This is the V1 in a size medium and everything has been incredibly reliable, I do keep my bikes in tip top condition.

The lighter front wheel I had on this bike does need trued (I know a guy) but is tubeless compatible 👍

Obviously tires! These bikes are great for customizing and can fit a pretty huge tire if you’re looking to tear up gravel or a smaller tire to cruise city streets!

Pedals, another chance to add your own touch, the only flat spares I have are yellow, $10 if you want them, or $30 for some SPD compatible pedals

Headset! This one was getting a little crunchy before I switched over, $25 or so for a good one on amazon- happy to make sure you order the right one!

Saddle, a very personable part of the bike that you should invest in to make sure it fits you right so you can enjoy riding! Lots of recommendations in groups on fb etc

I have the front caliper off but will reinstall it before a deal is made but it has sat as is for a couple months now, if it doesn’t sell I’ll just be doing a full build on it and enjoying it myself!

Everything is going back together on the ‘83 Raleigh and it’s looking great, just wish I had some cool wheels for this thing but not this time around!

(Sorry I didn’t film the headset refresh, red fork was cooked but I think the black looks sporty 😂)

Late night cleaning the gravel grinder. About to roll over 500 miles this year!

Slowly bringing this one back to life, one piece at a time.



Now back to the 80s build!

Tearing down the brake system just takes a few minutes so we can clean all the nooks and crannies while giving these essential parts a reset as well!

Crank and bottom bracket teardown complete. 🔧

Everything is apart and headed into the ultrasonic cleaner. On to the next step!

Step 3 of the Raleigh revival. 🔧

Time to pull the one-piece crank and bottom bracket… and honestly, I’m shocked at how easily everything came apart for a bike that’s been sitting this long.

Now it’s time to get everything cleaned up before moving on!

Step 2 of the 1980s Raleigh BMX revival.

Working my way from the rear of the bike to the front, so naturally the chain was next.

Nothing fancy here, just the good old pickle jar method. A little degreaser, a lot of shaking, and years of grime start working their way out.

Next up will be the bottom bracket, cranks and sprocket as I keep moving forward through the bike.
