HAPPY TRIALS WEEK! Remember all vans leave at 3:30 for practice from the seal (across from the ISC on Landrum road). Be sure to get there before 3:30 so you don’t get left behind.

Do better than our webmaster and wear close toed shoes and athletic clothing that you are comfortable getting wet. Additionally, bring your water bottle, sunscreen, and maybe a change of clothes/towel. Also, remember to get your forms in this week!

Senior Spotlight: Klara Pace

Klara,

I’ve had the chance to be at lots of practices with Klara, and I can confidently say that every practice has been better when she is there. I don’t think we’ve ever actually sailed together, but every time I look over at practice Klara is smiling and helping out everyone around her. Klara is also focused in practice, and shows up to all of the chalk talks.

Also, Klara is so kind at social events. In particular, there was one time at a party when I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do about joining Greek life. I then learned that Klara is in a sorority , and even though I had never really talked to her before she spent the better part of an hour talking to me about it. She was so kind and welcoming, and we instantly got along. This was particularly important to me as I was pretty new to the team at the time.
Anyway, Klara, I am so glad that you are a part of tribe sailing, and I wish you the best moving forward!

Senior Spotlight: Kiran Savkar

I met Kiran my first in the fall of my freshman year but we didn’t really get to know each other until much later that year. For those of you who don’t know this, I wasn’t the most active on the team during my first year so I didn’t know that many sailors outside of the other freshman. Kiran and I were both selected to risk one of the parties and that was my first time really getting to talk one on one with you. You were so nice and welcoming and it felt like you had a genuine interest in wanting to get to know me which had a huge impact. After that night, it felt like we had become good friends and you came to my field hockey formal not long after. Ever since, you have always been someone I could rely on to have something good to say. From screaming American Pie at the top of your lungs to starting (and ending) random arguments, you always made a night more entertaining. I can’t wait to see what amazing lawyer things you do in New York but you will surely be missed here.

Senior Spotlight: Mason Guerster

I know to many of our new members you may not have been introduced to Mason yet. Mason is about to graduate here in a few weeks with a dual major in art and chinese. It is wild saying the words that Mason is graduating. I met Mason in the fall of my freshman year. She immediately struck me as someone that shared the same laid back, kind vibe that I was trying to give off. However, she possessed this trait much better than I. Mason welcomed me onto this team and helped foster the caring and openness that many of us today still cherish.
I also shared the pleasure of working on exec with. We worked hand in hand, spending many weekends problem solving, sharing advice and keeping the boats held together. Mason donated her time on this team not only as fleet captain but also as a practice captain, helping all of you become better sailors.
So Mason I have had the honor to call you a colleague, housemate, but most importantly a friend. I have valued your friendship like many of us on this team past and present and we all thank you for the mark that you left on this team. I will miss you dearly but as Lily said in her senior speech to Charlotte Pernick, class of 2024, “until tomorrow.” All my best, Eric.

Senior Spotlight: Harry Rohne

Us northerners must stick together. I don’t remember the exact first moment when I met harry, but I do remember him learning I was also from New York, a paw little town up north if you’ve heard it. Instantly harry and I connected over arts, culture, and food. To say I am a big back is somewhat true to call harry that does not do him justice. He is a big back with little bits. He is a food critique in the making with his hot takes of the Sadler and caf samplings. Harry and I got close on Mondays last year, with the Monday funday crew as if it affectionately known.

Harry thank you for always being there for a laugh, a snack/ sweet treat, and a shoulder and sage wisdom. I can’t imagine tribe sailing without the incomparable Harry Rohne.

I know he has so many amazing things ahead. I look forward to serving on the United States senate, me as Junior senator and him as senior. Go New York, go tribe sailing, and Harry I hope you have fun in Ct this summer!! Aw”

Senior Spotlight: Meredith Endres

I don’t think I could name a single person that cares about Tribe Sailing more than Meredith. She has shown, throughout her whole time here, an incredible commitment to putting in the time and hard work required to do what is best for the team. Without fail, Meredith has been willing to step up and be there.
I remember my freshman fall, I thought Meredith was already on exec because she showed up for everything. She was at every social event, talking to new members like me and helping us to feel more welcome, and I remember at events like derigging, or homecoming, she was never waiting around for somebody else to do something – she was getting up and helping.
In her time on exec, she has done so many things – big and small – that have made this team better. From getting our docks rebuilt, to fundraising tirelessly to pay off our debt, to greatly improving our relationship with the rec, and so many more things I couldn’t possibly list in entirety, Meredith has left a lasting impact that will benefit sailors for many generations to come.
Even now, as a second semester senior, when most people would be stepping back and taking things easy, she is still consistently showing up for the team. If we need a 5th person to show up to something to get points from the rec, she’ll be there. If we need somebody to pick up the van pre-regatta, she’ll be there. If we need another safety officer to make practice work, she’ll be there. To her, it’s never been just about serving her time, or checking the boxes of the job – it’s been about doing all that she can to help the team succeed.
I will miss you a lot, Meredith, as I’m sure will the rest of the team. I have no idea what I’m going to do without you as my crew – hopefully I can convince Matt to come to practice one of these days. But I hope that your passion for everything that you do, and the love that this team has for you, fills your sails, and carries you far, as you venture across the wild seas of life.
