Sterling HS informed us yesterday about a scheduling conflict for March 22, 2016. As a result, we are rescheduling the March 22nd meeting for next week – Tuesday, March 15 at 7 p.m. Please adjust your calendars accordingly; see you next week. The uniform vendor is unable to attend next week; we are working on having him attend our April 5th meeting.
Baseball tip of the day:
If the pivot player drops the ball at second base during an attempted double play, watch to see which way the ball falls. If the ball pops away from the fielder, it is likely because the fielder had the ball in hand and dropped it while attempting to throw. The runner going into second base is out. However, if the ball drops straight down, it is likely the fielder never controlled the ball and the runner should be called safe.

Softball tip of the day:
Umpires must always keep the look-back rule in mind when the ball is live, the batter-runner has touched first base, there are one or more base runners, and the pitcher has possession and control of the ball within the pitcher's circle. To better monitor the base runners, the plate umpire should wait and allow the base umpire(s) time to get into position, make eye contact and then return to his or her position behind the catcher. With at least one pair of eyes on the runner(s), it prevents the crew from missing any look-back rule violation.
