Delaware hunters & fi****ms owners — we need your voice on Dec. 2.
A petition I submitted to Delaware DNREC is finally on the agenda for the Advisory Council on Wildlife & Freshwater Fish meeting on December 2, 2025 at 7 PM.

Here’s the issue:
Right now, Delaware law bans anyone hunting with a bow or crossbow from even possessing a holstered handgun for self-defense in the field.
Not using it — just possessing it.
That contradicts:
🔹 Delaware Constitution Article I, § 20 (self-defense + hunting rights), and
🔹 The Delaware Supreme Court’s Bridgeville (2017) decision, which said state agencies can’t prohibit lawful firearm possession without clear authority.
The petition simply asks DNREC to keep current hunting rules, but clarify that a holstered self-defense handgun is not a “method of take.” This protects wildlife-management rules and protects constitutional rights.
How you can help
✔️ Attend the meeting (in person or virtual)
✔️ Leave a public comment
✔️ Share this with hunters, shooters, and CCDW holders
This is a clean, common-sense correction that keeps hunting regs intact while respecting Delawareans’ right to self-defense.
Thanks to anyone willing to show up or submit a comment. Your voice matters.
