On Saturday, June 8th nine runners and walkers crossed the finish line of the Three Month Marathon at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who participated in portions of this marathon run. Each and every one of you helped to make the "slowest marathon ever" a success!

Remember that train blocking our path? We took matters into our own hands and hitched a ride!

Chris Golas led us on a run to a large scale composting facility that processes waste from all over the east coast. We ran through industrial areas and then picked up the pace when the odors at the facility became particularly pungent. The route back took us past warehouses, pallet suppliers, and material plants with small neighborhoods interspersed. We re-routed when our path was blocked by a stalled freight train, and the run turned out to be 3.95 miles. We then celebrated with green smoothies at the DCCA. Great work composting squad!

Thanks to micro farmer Chris Golas for a great (and stinky) run followed by green smoothies! Yum.

Sarah Field led us on a run through Trolley Square and Rockford Park and past landmark places from her childhood. We briefly dovetailed with the Delaware Marathon, which was happening simultaneously, and had the chance to cheer on the runners and give thanks for our alternative marathon format. Thanks for the great run Sarah!
