We envision a Commonwealth of authentic inclusion where racism and sexism no longer dictates the outcomes of women of color and our communities.

Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition is dedicated to eradicating the racial inequities among women of color created by structural, institutional, interpersonal, and internalized racism. We will address racial inequities through authentic inclusion in the areas of politics, education, economic empowerment, criminal justice and health and wellness. Our success will maximize the benefits and contributions for all aggrieved communities of color and the Commonwealth as a whole.

MAWOCC’s work comes to life through programs that support women and girls of color across leadership, education, economic power, health and wellness, and civic participation.

From the Intergenerational Leadership Academy to Power Path for small businesses, the 2026 Statewide Day of Holistic Healing & Wellness, and Boards and Commissions Training, each program is created with intention.

Together, these programs reflect MAWOCC’s commitment to building spaces where women and girls of color can learn, lead, heal, grow, and access resources in community.

For Makda Teklemichael, MAWOCC is a space where women of color can come as they are — with different cultures, languages, backgrounds, experiences, and stories.

Through her work as Program Coordinator, Makda helps carry forward the care, collaboration, and behind-the-scenes coordination that make MAWOCC’s programs and community spaces possible.

MAWOCC’s 2026 Statewide Day of Holistic Healing & Wellness is coming this September!

This full-day experience is centered on healing, wellness, sisterhood, empowerment, and community.
