We Promote: "You are Important, You are Smart and You Matter! The girls in the program range from 7-14. We want to show them another way of life.
KICS introduces the girls to other ways of life because Children growing up in poverty only know what is around them. We work with the girls all year round to maintain a deeper connection with the children and their families. We serve as a consistent, positive role model in these girls lives, strengthening academic and social skills, and providing motivation and rewards to those excelling. During
our time together, we have dinner, learn a biblical lesson, play games, do a lesson related craft, teach life skills and spend quality time together. With spending time with these children, the consistency of this commitment speaks loudly. It says, "You are Important, You are Smart and You Matter! If the citizens of this country want to change this growing problem of poverty in America, then we need to teach children some different values. The reality is that children in poverty will not learn work ethic and success if the community does not get involved. Children in poverty have a difficult time breaking the vicious cycle of poverty. The communities they live in are plagued with drugs, gun violence, male incarceration, and absentee fatherhood. Since their life outcomes seem so bleak, it is unfair to imagine these children fixing their own problems. Stand up and help make a difference in a child’s life today!
