Young VI Cyclists Shine at 25th John T. Memorial Road Races in Anguilla

Team BVI Riderz completed with an encouraging performance at the 25th John T. Memorial Road Races in Anguilla, with the club's young cyclists earning multiple podium finishes while gaining valuable regional racing experience.

The Virgin Islands team thanked the Anguilla Cycling Association for its invitation, warm welcome, and hospitality throughout the event, which featured riders from across the region.

In the Under-9 category, Aiden Percival captured first place, while Gabriel Jeffers secured second to complete an impressive one-two finish for Team BVI Riderz.

Zayden McIntosh placed seventh in the Under-13 division, while Taaxhanae Williams was unable to finish the Under-15 race after sustaining an injury.

TréVaun Smith also reached the podium, claiming third place in the Junior Under-20 category.

Club founder, team manager, and Masters B competitor Calvin Smith also represented Team BVI Riderz in the event. While balancing his leadership responsibilities throughout the competition, Smith completed the Masters B race, finishing outside the medal positions.

Reflecting on the team's participation, Smith said the event marked several firsts for Team BVI Riderz, but the cyclists embraced every challenge with determination.

"Most of all, we gained the experience needed to propel our cyclists to the next level," Smith said.

He also expressed appreciation to the Anguilla Cycling Association for its hospitality and the opportunity to compete in the milestone event.

"We are very grateful to the Anguilla Cycling Association for the invitation, warm welcome and hospitality at the memorable 25th John T. Memorial Road Races," he said.

Smith also thanked the parents, the club's executive, members, and supporters for their continued encouragement.

"We could not do this without each of you," he added.

The team's performance highlighted the continued development of youth cycling in the Virgin Islands as Team BVI Riderz continues to provide opportunities for young riders to gain experience on the regional stage.
