First-Time Team BVI Strikes Gold as Peters, Dawson, Grante, Simmonds and Morris Shine at World Championships
-Team BVI captures 14 medals in a historic debut at the 2026 World Taekwondo Championships in Gimcheon, South Korea

History made in South Korea!

In their first-ever appearance at the World Taekwondo Championships in Gimcheon, South Korea, Team BVI delivered an outstanding performance, returning home with an impressive 14 medals against some of the world's best competitors.

Leading the medal haul were Shonell Peters and Gahvier Dawson, who each captured gold in Recognized Individual Poomsae, while Dawson also earned silver in Kyorugi and Pair Recognized Poomsae. Xiimar Grante, Tremani Simmonds and Ahamani Morris all struck gold in Color Belt Poomsae, with Simmonds also winning gold in Kyorugi. Master Olanzo Boynes and Sandra Fichter each secured silver in Recognized Individual Poomsae, while Destini Jeffrey claimed bronze in Recognized Individual Poomsae and added a silver in Pair Recognized Poomsae.

The remarkable showing marks a historic milestone for the British Virgin Islands, proving that even in their debut appearance, Team BVI has the talent, determination and skill to compete among the world's best.
