Serving up Awareness 🏐🎀
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year’s theme: “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters” reminds us that everyone’s experience is different, but every act of support makes a difference. 💖
💡 Did you know?
1️⃣ 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
2️⃣ Men can also get breast cancer — it’s rare, but it happens!
3️⃣ Early detection saves lives — doing regular self-checks and getting screenings makes a huge difference.
4️⃣ Exercise (like volleyball 😉) actually helps lower the risk of breast cancer.
5️⃣ The pink ribbon became a global symbol of breast cancer awareness in 1992.
6️⃣ It’s recommended to do a self-check once a month and follow your doctor’s screening advice.
7️⃣ Having a close relative with breast cancer can raise your risk, but anyone can get it.
8️⃣ Only about 5–10% of breast cancers are caused by inherited genetic mutations. Most cases occur with no family history.
9️⃣While the risk increases with age, younger women (and men) can still be diagnosed.
🔟 Breast pain is rarely linked to cancer. Lumps, changes in size, or ni**le discharge are more typical warning signs.
