If you are looking for the best in outdoor adventures, look no further! Northerly remote, you’ll get the feeling of being at the end of the earth.
Anegada Island is ground zero for Flats Fishing (Bonefish, Tarpon, Permit and Snook), Reef Fishing (Barracudas, Sharks, Snappers and Horse Eye Jacks) and Offshore Fishing (Marlin, Dorado, Tuna and Wahoo) as well as great Diving, Snorkeling and Eco-tours. Anegada Island remains an enigma of the British Virgin Islands: it’s the only atoll amongst an archipelago of volcanically formed islands and cay
s. Anegada is a Spanish word meaning “submerged”. The island bathes in a lagoon-like environment framed by the forth largest barrier reef in the world: the Horse Shoe Reef. This substantial barrier reef just off the northern shore is the final resting place for many pirate ships. It shelters a ribbon of white sandy beaches from the incessant pounding of the Atlantic. Flats Fishing
We’ll instruct you in how to sight-cast to Bonefish Tarpon & Permit. We are committed to offering superb service to you. Sharing the pleasure of Fly Fishing and seeing the enjoyment on friends’ faces, as they hook into monster bonefish, is most rewarding. First-time spin and fly casters are welcome. We want you to experience the thrill of stalking a pod of tailing Bonefish; in ankle-deep water; the rush as a hooked Tarpon erupt into the air; and that surge of excitement as a Permit tips down to inspect your fly. You’ll see then what the craze is all about! Anegada Island is a world-class fly-fishing destination and is amongst the best in the Caribbean. It’s truly an angler’s paradise! Reef Fishing
Light tackle enthusiasts will be amazed at the non-stop action among Anegada Reefs. Reef fishing routinely produces an abundant catch of Mutton and Yellowtail Snapper, Horse-Eye Jack, Barracuda and more. Different methods are used including artificial and live bait. Live bait is becoming very popular due to its success. Reef fishing is less technical than fly-fishing and allows you to fish in calm waters surrounding flats and along the reef. Kids really enjoy it, too. It is fun and exciting! Snorkeling
We realize that not every visitor to our beautiful islands is an avid angler. Most are here to relax in our tranquil settings and to enjoy our crystalline surrounding waters. Imagine a snorkeling trip to this extremely complex ecosystem of coral reef habitats. Eco-Tours
On the Caribbean side mangroves protect miles of secluded flats. No words will ever do these flats justice so you need to visit first hand. We can help you do just that. Imagine an eco-tour to view environmentally sensitive mangrove habitat. Mangroves habitats are among the most prolific in the world. Mangroves establish habitat for nesting birds such as Egrets, Kingfishers, Doves and many other species. Observe Frigates and Ospreys as they soar on wind currents and Brown Pelicans as they nose dive into schools of glass minnows, as a solitary Great Blue Heron crouches motionlessly in wait to ambush an unsuspecting crab. One of the most rewarding sightings is the beautiful Flamingo as the flock wades sieving water through their bills trapping brine shrimp which give them their pink colour. Watch large schools of minnows jump from the water surface avoiding the bite of a larger fish. View Hawksbill and Green Turtles as they emerge for breaths of air, Spotted Eagle Rays breaching and Sting Rays and Nurse Sharks as they skull along the bottom in search of worms, mollusks and crustaceans. After a fishing trip or tour you may be fortunate to spot an indigenous Anegada Rock Iguana amongst sea grapes; but don’t bet on it. They are endangered with only a couple hundred adults in the wild. Thanks to the National Parks Trust of the BVI rehabilitation project head start facility, they are making a slow but steady come back. This is a must see with Anegada Fishing & Eco-Tours!
