Join us for chess tonight at Horizon Coffee at 19:00.
Our website has the Google Maps location: https://hanoiluckychess.com
Many first timers to our chess club ignore the prominent map and just probably Google the location of Horizon Chess.
Since the first three hits on Google are for a different Horizon Coffee in Hanoi, and since taxi apps have to be told "Phung Khoang" to find the right coffee house, it's possible that there is a less than 50% chance of finding us the first time unless (1) you know there are two coffee houses with the same name, and (2) you look for the coffee house in Phung Khoang.
Since most newcomers find us via FB, I've added "Horizon - Phung Khoang" to the name of our chess club on FB, hoping this added info, posted prominently will solve the problem.
The praxis remains. "Praxis" is a fancy word for diligently observing whether a strategy or tactic works and, if not, then changing it until it works successfully, or at least until it works better. https://dn710706.ca.archive.org/0/items/PedagogyOfTheOppressed-English-PauloFriere/oppressed.pdf
German Chess HVQ says the word "praxis" is unnecessary, but he agrees that the practice of the praxis is necessary, even if it is called something else.

There are two (2) Horizon Coffee locations in Hanoi, which creates confusion for newcomers seeking to play chess with us at our location in Phung Khoang. Newcomers sometimes go to the wrong location.
https://www.tiktok.com/.vn?_r=1&_t=ZS-96GTjoaGJhV
Unfortunately, the first three hits for “Horizon Coffee” on Google search lead to the wrong location.
Newcomers, without knowing that there are two coffee houses with the same name but radically different locations, often discover this only by going to the wrong location, which is five kilometers from the correct location. This is too much friction for newcomers.
This is the correct location, seen on Google Maps: https://share.google/Q4jumtFQRQhyxmpCb
The correct address is: 46 Ng.67 Đ. Phùng Khoang, Đại Mỗ, Hà Nội.
Twice in the past week, newcomers have contacted me to ask me which of the two locations is correct.
It's natural for newcomers to put their intended location, “Horizon Coffee”, in Google Maps or a ride hailing app and ask to be taken there. If they choose at random among the two locations in the ride hailing apps, they have only a 50% chance of going to the right café.
We can help newcomers by warning them that there are two Horizons Coffee houses in Hanoi and providing them with the address of the correct location: “46 Ng.67 Đ. Phùng Khoang, Đại Mỗ, Hà Nội”.
The only way presently online for them to come to the right location is to use the Google Maps location we provide, which provides the address, on our website, as well as our page and FB fan page.
Again, unfortunately, even when provided with the Google Maps location, Google Maps makes it very hard to copy the address and paste it into a ride hailing app. Often I can see the address on Google Maps, but it seems impossible to copy it in order to paste it.
Yes, we can tell newcomers that we play chess in the Phung Khoang neighborhood of Hanoi’s Ha D**g district, but that will only be helpful to people who are extremely familiar with Hanoi neighborhoods.
So, newcomers often contact me directly, by FB Messenger or Zalo, to ask me which location is correct.
It seems necessary to better inform newcomers that (1) there are two different Horizon locations in Hanoi, and (2) provide them more easily with the correct street address on all of our social media, to enable them to copy and paste this street address into ride hailing apps: 46 Ng.67 Đ. Phùng Khoang, Đại Mỗ, Hà Nội
Are there any other ways to reduce this friction for newcomers wanting to play chess with us?

You can find our regular meeting schedule here https://www.facebook.com/61577625093409/posts/122173238018920836/
and on our website at https://hanoiluckychess.com .
We stick to this schedule almost religiously, unless there is an outside force or "force majeure" that compels us to change it, for example Tết holiday, or a sudden and devastating earthquake directly under the coffee house where we meet. 😂
Members of the club may invite each other to meet at other times and places, but the club sticks to its announced meeting schedule so that members and the general public always know when and where to find us, as announced on our website, in our Zalo group, on our Facebook fanpage and our Facebook group.

Do you ever wonder if we are playing today according to the schedule published on the website?
Unless you see a messange in this group and on our page announcing that we are NOT playing, we are absolutely playing according to the schedule on the website.
Sometimes we do not play during Tẻt, so club members can spend time with their familes. Otherwise, we always play according to the schedule announced on the website.
