Happy 5-year Granite Anniversary to me! I all started when an ad for Granite Conditioning came across my Facebook feed. I was living in New Hampshire at the time, where every business is named “Granite XYZ,” so I assumed it was a new, local gym and clicked on the ad. As they say, the rest is history.
I was 41 when I began, with no experience in bodybuilding. I was a lifelong runner and was simply looking for a new form of exercise. I had no idea what I was capable of or how my body would change. I wasn’t unhappy with my body when I started, but I definitely love the physique that I have created since then. I don’t have a designer wardrobe, my hair is a mess, and I don’t wear makeup, but I have a body that money can’t buy. I also love the confidence that has grown along with my muscles. I currently train at an Air Force Base, where I’m often the only female among airmen and soldiers who warm up their bench press with way more weight than I could ever dream of deadlifting. But I walk into the weight room like I belong there, because I do.
Since finishing Accidently Hot last September, I’ve been happily maintaining my figure stage weight without tracking macros, without doing cardio, and without spending hours in the gym each day. It seems crazy, but it also shouldn’t be too surprising because I spent over 4 years laying the foundation for this. I know the Blitz doesn’t run that often, but if it ever comes back I would absolutely encourage you to do it. It truly teaches you everything you need to know.
So thank you Andrew Deasy and here are some highlights from the past 5 years:
Picture 1: June 2021—start of 1st Blitz, 103lbs, BMI = 21.5
Picture 2: April 2022—2nd Blitz & figure competition, 93.2lbs, BMI = 19.5

As I sit here considering life choices and the possibility of competing again in 2027, I found myself reflecting on 2019.
Brisbane Classic. Rimini Wellness Festival. The 3am workouts. The 12.5 hour machinery shifts. The second gym session after work. The exhaustion. The discipline. The external “character-building” moments I was dealing with at the same time.
I remember thinking back then that it was hard.
And it was.
But I also remembered something else.
I loved it.
I loved doing something that was just for me. I loved training. I loved the stress relief, the focus, the feeling of accomplishment, and the version of myself that showed up when I had a goal in front of me.
After the nightmare of the last seven years, I know prep will still be hard. All prep are.
But in some ways, it also feels like it will be a walk in the park.
Because there have been things that tried to destroy me, and I am still standing.
They haven’t got me yet.
So honestly?
Bring it on.
I guess the point of this reflection is this: if something matters to you, don’t talk yourself out of it just because life can be hard.

Well it’s been almost 11 months since I finally committed to doing a Granite program and it changed my life for the better. I’ve been up and down my whole life. Going on diets since I was 11. I was going through some old things today and found a diet diary from when I was 12 🫠 talking about how much I needed to lose weight and have a flat stomach 😅 check out one of my days the photos… apparently I thought 600 sit ups and like 400 calories was the ticket!
Anyway, I’ve included some photos of the 3 times I’ve been very overweight from my youth, 29 and 35. Now I’m almost 6 months away from turning 40 and can’t believe how good I feel. Also a photo from when I was like 18 doing my first challenge thing (I think it was body for life or something) lol.
I’m still running my Blitz training program with some modifications and cycling through. I’ve wanted to be fit and strong my whole life and it’s taken a long ass time to realise what it all comes down to is consistency. I literally never have a perfect week. I just keep on doing what I can to keep progressing though. Forever grateful I jumped in last year and found my way after so many failed attempts. I’ve spent my life hating my body and for once I can say I truly don’t anymore 🥹

A little bit of a Flash Back Friday moment with 😍😍🏆🏆
Had so much fun yesterday competing in my first ever bodybuilding competition! 👏🏻 Over 12 months of hard work training with for this comp and fueling my body to be strong was absolutely worth the effort and sacrifices 💪🏻 Stoked to have even come away with a 3rd, 2 x 4th and 5th in my divisions 🥉Love you .chainey for putting up with my hangry ass (the last few months in particular), and for being my cheer squad every day 👯♀️ for keeping this rig moving and mummsy for always being there ❤️ Can’t wait to do it all again this weekend at the State Championships!

Here is what you can achieve in just 8 weeks working with champion trainer
“sharing my results here to maybe inspire some of you ladies to join the next blitz.
I’ve been in the gym for 30 plus years and the last few years I’ve been getting comfortable just going through the motions, during COVID I started working from home and fell into a bit of a funk. I had a ‘breathing’ condition that made cardio difficult except walking, so I decided to go hard with my weights, hence I joined the Blitz.
I’m super happy with my results and still a work in progress but absolutely enjoying the journey. I love working out for myself and it’s great to share physique changes with you like-minded ladies, but nothing is better than setting and reaching strength goals week after week.
Coach Deasy is the real deal and if you want to drown out the noise and overwhelm of the fitness and diet industry then this is it. I wanted one way, no bu****it, and I got it.”
