Danger of Trail running
A quick reminder for trail runners for ensuring their safe return.
* Charge mobile phone
Always make sure that you take a fully charged mobile phone with you and load your gps maps or at least mark your start location;
If something happens, at least you can call for help or look up where to run to. Your phone and 3G may not always work so it is well worth to use an offline GPX viewer and load your maps into that.
* Sports Watch
If you have a sports watch, safe your starting point.
In case you are lost and your phone doesn't work, you can use your watch to follow the direction back to the starting point.
* Have sufficient water with you
The above may seem unnecessary but a forest can become very a dangerous area if you are lost and run out of water. Even if the forest is not huge, it may take a lot of effort to get out of it. Read the story in the article below which highlights this issue.
