VBA has been invited by Badminton Oceania to attend the Shuttle Time (ST) Tutors Course and Pacific Foundation Coaching Course held in Nadi, Fiji from Thursday 13 August 2026 to Sunday 16 August 2026.
VBA representatives Nelson Boe and Prisca Virelala have departed Port Vila today en route to the training session.
Thank you for representing VBA and all the best with your journey! Acknowledge also Badminton Oceania for the opportunity and support given and also VASANOC (Vanuatu Association of Sports And National Olympic Committee) for for the support always in such sport development pathway.
VBA believes the two participants will bring back great knowledge from the course and also pave the way for coaching initiative within the sport discipline.

🙌 From Wednesday 27 May to Friday 29 May Badminton Oceania Development Officer Dhanny Oud delivered the Youth Leadership Course at Freedom School and at VASANOC (Vanuatu Association of Sports And National Olympic Committee). There was inclusiveness also in the sessions.
🤝 Acknowledge the schools and parents that allowed their students to be a part of the training sessions and also the VBA Team for team work in working with Dhanny. Additionally thank you to Freedom School and VASANOC (Vanuatu Association of Sports And National Olympic Committee) for opportunity of using the venues for running activities.
🎾On Saturday 29 May, Dhanny ran a relaxed hands on games with VBA members and students from the Youth Leadership course before departure back to Auckland, New Zealand.
👏 Great effort everyone, and we believe it was a great experience for the students as they enjoyed the training sessions. Looking forward to work with you all and the Shuttle Time (ST) teachers to put into practise what was learned!

🙌 VBA was fortunate to Badminton Oceania Development Officer Dhanny Oud visit us in Port Vila and engage in training sessions from Monday 25 May to Saturday 30 May.
🤝 Dhanny took the time to work with the Para Badminton Team from Vanuatu Paralympic Committee on Monday 25 May to Tuesday 26 May in training sessions. He also meet up with the VPC President, Magaret Mcfarlane, SG Selena Enrel, and Administrator as well as Para Athlete Jacklynda Molidu.
👏 Thank you also to Lycée français Le Clézio de Port Vila and Wan Smolbag for training venue as well as VASANOC (Vanuatu Association of Sports And National Olympic Committee) CEO, David Lolo, and Department of Youth and Sports Development, Vanuatu Senior Sports Officer, Reginald Kipe, for meeting sessions.

🙌VBA now has a Develpment Officer (DO), Nelson Boe who will be employed as a part time employee and looking after the development programs of the sports discipline within Port Vila and extending to other provinces of Vanuatu.
🏸Under the 2026 VASANOC (Vanuatu Association of Sports And National Olympic Committee) Development Officer (DO) program VBA will receive funding to support Nelson who will work also with Badminton Oceania in this initiative. His role will commence with:
* running public come and try sessions down at Korman (outdoor courts) from Mondays and Thursdays, 4.30pm to 6pm. Also from Saturdays, 8am to 12pm.
* running school promotion and awareness every Wednesdays from 1pm to 4pm.
* supporting the ST teachers program and reporting to the Coordinator.
* initiating promotion and awareness to rural schools and communities surrounding Port Vila and reaching out to the provinces.
* supporting the pathway for a national Under 15 development squad and implementing national competition.
* supporting the pathway for a national senior development squad and implementing national competition.
* working in collaboration with Vanuatu Paralympic Committee to support Para Badminton alongside Para ST teacher and Athlete, Jacklynda Molidu.
As well as this the DO will work in support of VASANOC (Vanuatu Association of Sports And National Olympic Committee) and promote and uphold the Olympic values.
VBA anticipates that with this development pathway now in existence this role will be consistent yearly in full filling the strategic plan for the sporting body.

☀️VASANOC has commenced the 2026 Development Officers (DO) program with 12 National Federations of Sport/Association of Sports (NF) attending a refresher held today Friday 22 May. There are 12 sport disciplines selected for the program, and only Vanuatu Rowing Association DO was absent but represented by an executive member.
🙏The aim of this refresher, as initiated in 2025, is to involve in discussion, the support towards the development officers of recipient sport disciplines for report writing about events and activity programs inline with their National Federations strategic plan and initiating Olympic Values.
🤝For this year as addressed also in the refresher, more emphasis will be focused also on, sports awareness and promotion (development pathways into schools and communities for increased participation), consistent activities and events, athletes wellness, and talent identification (data) for build up of Team Vanuatu towards upcoming regional and international games.

🙌 Vanuatu Para Badminton Athlete, Jacklynda Molidu, has attended the Team Up Pacific Conference with Sam Kreutzer of Badminton Oceania recently in Fiji, supporting the athletes with disabilities in the sport of Badminton. 🇻🇺 🇫🇯🏸

Vanuatu BWF Development & Shuttle Time Program Updates:
🙌 Friday 1 May, ST Teachers Nelson Boe and Mathias involved Badminton initiation in the Sports activity of the community of Saint Joseph at Nambatu Lagoon, 2pm to 5pm. Other Sports involved, Chess, Soccer and Volleyball.
Active involvement of children and showed them how to hold raquete properly and high the shuttle.
Divided into two (2) teams and had a bin competition nice girls and boys. Players participate with support wes cheering their teams.

🙌Sunday 26 March, ST Teacher Prisca Virelala continous her ST training with the community of Saint Joseph, at Nambatu Lagoon.
