๐ฟ In Loving Memory of Annie Kalran ๐ฟ
Today, we remember Annie Kalran our 54-year-old inspiration whose life and journey continue to touch the hearts of many.
Born and raised in the village of Erakor on Efate Island, SHEFA Province, Annie became a proud Social Impact Inclusion (SII) Ambassador for the Vanuatu Cricket Association (VCA). She also served as a sports officer, supporting and delivering programs for Womenโs Island Cricket, and played an important role as Secretary of the Womenโs Island Cricket Planning Committee.
Annieโs journey is one of courage and transformation. Having never played sports before, she joined island cricket in 2016 after an awareness visit to her village. From there, she grew into a dedicated leader within the program, eventually joining VCA staff in 2019. She contributed greatly by facilitating competitions, supporting communities, and raising awareness on Gender-Based Violence across schools and villages.
As a trained umpire and scorer, she actively participated in games and workshops.
Through the program, Annie built strong friendships with other women, found support, and became a source of encouragement for many.
Her story showed how sport can empower lives, giving her strength, independence, and purpose. She became a role model, using her voice to uplift other women and promote healthy, positive lifestyles.
Annieโs life is a powerful reminder that it is never too late to grow, to lead, and to make a difference in the lives of others.
Today marks the anniversary of her passing. As we honour her memory, we celebrate the legacy she leaves behind within the AAV family and the wider community.
We remember you, Annie. Continue to rest with the Lord Almighty. We shall meet again one day. You will always remain in our hearts.๐

It has been almost a week since the Team Up Reflection Workshop held in Nadi, Fiji (13โ14 May 2026), and we would like to sincerely acknowledge and thank GHD, DFAT and Team Up for their continued support in transforming and saving lives through sport.
The face-to-face workshops created a valuable space for us to connect, share knowledge, and reflect on our programs , what has worked, what has not, and how we can continue to improve within our own countries and communities. Learning from one another and celebrating our achievements together was truly rewarding.
The Reflection Workshop provided valuable and insightful opportunities to directly connect with partners both implementers and lead partners across the Pacific countries where Team Up operates. Through these engagements, we were able to share our collective passion for Sport for Development, along with our vision, mission, goals, and objectives. Strengthening our understanding of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), and the launch of the Safeguarding Toolkit, has further deepened our commitment and strengthened how we deliver our programs within our own community settings.
These gatherings remind us of the impact of the work we do every day. Often, we do so much in our communities without fully realising the difference we are making until we come together and share our stories, whether through discussions or folktale videos that speak volumes.
It was also insightful to better understand the terminology used in development work. At times we think we are not meeting certain standards, but through open conversations, we realise that we are already doing meaningful work. With passion, strong organisational support, and vital funding, we are able to expand our reach and create greater impact.
Special recognition to our Social Impact and Lead Coordinator, Mary Estelle Mahuk, for her dedication in successfully delivering the program over the past four years.
