Unfortunately yet again we have been hoodwinked by the weather and this weekends leg of the All-Ireland Kayak Angling Championship, in Culdaff has been cancelled. While the weather on Saturday is set to be fine, lingering swells from inclement weather in the days leading up to the weekend have forced us to call it off in the name of safety.

Looking forward to the next round of the All-Ireland Kayak Angling Championships next weekend in Culdaff, Co. Donegal. Its shaping up to be a fantastic weekend with species ranging from Gobies to Tope all on the cards!

Our anglers are busy choosing the spots they'll fish for the competition using the highly detailed relief shading available from our lovely sponsors at

Next Saturday brings us north, to visit the Wild Atlantic Way in Donegal's north-western corner, launching and camping from Culdaff! A wide range of species are available to our anglers here, along with stunning cliff views and big seas, so here's hoping for settled weather in the next week! Again, thanks to our sponsors Navionics UK, who's brilliant Boating App gives anglers a fantastic level of detailed information about the ground they're fishing over and tidal runs. All relevant information about the competition can be found on the forum at irishkayakangling.com. Thanks also to our sponsors Darrens Kayaks and Ursuit for their ongoing support of the club. See you all soon folks!

Unfortunately, due to adverse weather conditions, namely blustery offshore winds, this weekends leg of the All-Ireland Kayak Angling Championship has been postponed. A revised date will be posted in due course.

Just a week to go to leg 2 of the 2024 Irish Kayak Angling All-Ireland Championship. This round sees us return to the salt and a migration to the east, to visit the fast running waters of Cahore, county Wexford. Some vital information about tides and currents is included in the Navionics display, which, in addition to fishing data is a brilliant feature of Navionics UK. Many thanks to them for their continued suppprt and also to Darrens Kayaks and Ursuit. All the competition info is available on the forum at irishkayakangling.com.

The dust has settled on a fantastic 1st leg of the 2024 All-Ireland Kayak Angling Championship, held out of Portumna, on the northern tip of the River Shannon's mighty Lough Derg. Fishing was good for most anglers, with a diverse range of species showing up! Pike, perch, roach, bream hybrids and a couple of elusive trout to boot! Well done to Cuciureanu Ionut on his victory, and well done also to Niall Moore on his prize of Navionics UK subscription! Many thanks to Navionics and Maureen at Palmerston Stores, Garry Kenny for her generous ongoing support, as well as Darrens Kayaks and Ursuit! Looking forward to the next leg in a couple of weeks, back on the salt, on Ireland's East Coast!

How not to go about kayak fishing at night. Very irresponsible, and potentially lethal. This person got very lucky in those conditions....

Back to reality today after a great weekend at Berehaven Golf Club with the Cork leg of the All Ireland Kayak Angling Championship. A huge thanks to our generous sponsors Halfway Angling Centre Darrens Kayaks Navionics Ursuit RAILBLAZA SM GROUP Europe Ltd for donating prizes! The Castletownbere Leg of the All Ireland Kayak Angling Championship is almost upon us, fingers and toes crossed for the weather to play ball, it's been a really frustrating year for us all weather wise. A quick update on our annual. Species hunt competition. Defending champion Tim has now caught 50 (yes, fifty) different species between fresh and salt water from his fleet of kayaks this year. This is an incredible achievement considering there's a huge amount of time left in the season, and given the appalling weather conditions we've had to endure for the past 8 weeks or so. Well done Tim!

The latest round of our All-Ireland Kayak Angling Championship takes us to the north east of the island, over the border to Ardglass, Co. Down. As you can see from the incredible detail shown by our generous sponsor Navionics relief shading, there's a great variety of ground to fish, and this gives us a great venue for species hunting. Our good friend Andy McGarvey has caught up to 16 species in a day, an incredible achievement. Thanks as always to our sponsors Darrens Kayaks Ursuit SM GROUP Europe Ltd RAILBLAZA for their ongoing support! Last weekend, Round 2 of the All-Ireland Kayak Angling Championships took place in Cahore, Co. Wexford. Despite uncertain forecasts, the meet saw a great turnout and in the end conditions were excellent.

Fishing was generally good with several anglers managing to complete the meet challenge consisting of a Smooth Hound, any Flatfish, any Wrasse and a Dogfish. However, as the only angler to complete the challenge with a joker species, in this case a Tope, Janic Schulte took first place on the day.

Well done also to Maciej Rzeznik who won the Navionics subscription that was up for grabs.

The countdown is now on to Round 3 in Culdaff, Co. Donegal on the 1st of July.

As always, a huge thank you and shoutout to all our club sponsors, RAILBLAZA, Navionics, SM GROUP Europe Ltd, Ursuit, and Darrens Kayaks. Thank you also to Tom Redmond & Sons, Ballygarrett for acting as the meet registration point and the supply of quality bait.

It really is an invaluable resource and we're grateful to navionics for their generous sponsorship of 7 subscriptions to the webapp, one for each leg of the All Ireland Kayak Angling Championship.
