Rangers hit form just in time for the season, after continuous improvement on performances the lads managed to put together a full 60 minutes of fast flowing football, we ran out worthy winners in a 10 goal thriller. We played the team we’ll be pitch sharing with for the season and was great for all the players to get valuable minutes on our home pitch.

Too much action to breakdown but 10/10 performances across all 10 lads, goals galore, great saves, rock solid at the back and just energy throughout. Special mention to the defensive unit, great communication, strong in the tackles and won all their headers… something we worked on all summer.

Yesterday Cohen was his normal cool composed self, pick the right passes, won all his duals, talked with his teammates throughout and managed to grab his first goal of the season from CDM

Jay continued his fine pre season form with another match winning performance, was up and down the pitch on his least favoured left wing. Grabbed a brace of goals and also assists.

🩵The Rangers boys finished up a football packed week with a trip all the way out to wakey. Long day at a tournament showed in a very leggy first half that put us in a position where a win was unlikely, that said they went out in the 2nd half and absolutely smashed it. The performance in the 2nd half left coaches and parents both going home with nothing but pride in the resilience shown.🩵

Today Henry took home the award, from the 1st minute to the last he showed pure strength vs a physical team but matched them with his efforts. Played out from the back very well and this is an aspect to his game that is growing week on week.
After a gruelling day in the sun yesterday vs some higher level teams Henry excelled, he could have been forgiven if he wasn’t tracking back or pushing out… but he stuck to the task for the whole match.

Brody with one working hand today braved playing in his normal position and over the course of the game he was immense, few issues in the 1st half playing out but he didn’t let that deter him as that’s what we encourage regardless of the outcome. 2nd half I think all the people watching would say how much of a defensive masterclass was but on by the whole team, this includes some saves by Brody that didn’t look possible. ⚽️Deneby Tournament⚽️

Today the rangers boys took on our first tournament, didn’t have the best of starts as Brody injured his hand in the warm up, meaning we had to start the other Rooney in goal. After a loss to the eventual winners we grew and grew into the tournament, grabbing our first point vs Wath and holding out for a 1-0 vs our good friends over at Greasbrough. This was enough to take us into the 3rd place final.

Unfortunately we lost the playoff via penalties but the lads have nothing to be upset about, we were lowest division team in the group and managed to get some decent results. Finished 4th overall and as a coaching team we have nothing but praise for our amazing set of lads🩵

Tonight the Rangers lads hosted FC manton up at thorncliffe, the eclipse took a backseat whilst the lads put in a great performance against a team we’ve never come up against.

Due to the heat hitting 32 degrees we broke the game into quarters for hydration breaks… sponsorship space available😂. The opposition only had 8 players so for the 2nd game in a row AFC showed the right sporting spirit and matched the numbers.

Game started and we was on the front foot from the get go, some great chances was getting created but was missing the finishing touch. A great ball off the left from Ollie was turned into their own net under the pressure of Ben⚽️ a few minutes later a ball played out wide by Jayson into the path of Cole (on days loan from Greasbrough) who from the edge of the box smashed one into the top left hand corner⚽️
The 2nd half carried on in the same vain, the lads continued the pressure and knew the chances would come, the next chance fell to Jayson after a through ball by Ezra and he gladly finished the move off⚽️ the last play of the day was great work as ever by Jayson on the right wing and his cross was finished by Ben at the back post to get a goal to mark his performance⚽️ performance topped off with a clean sheet and a well deserved one for the defensive unit 🧱

Ben won this today and it’s not hard to see why, Ben has worked tirelessly in the year he’s been with us at his positioning and strength. Ben does all the right things on and off the ball, he’s 2 for 2 now and it’s so pleasing to see his hard work paying off.

Referee players

This was shared today with the two lefties out on the wing, some great play from both of these lads that saw numerous opportunities either taken or saved by the keeper. Honestly as a coach to see the 2 newest to the squad growing in confidence week on week is what coaching is all about…. And shows the qualities of the lads to settle in so quick
