Between school runs, bedtime stories & bike rides, it took me a while to post this 😅

Basajaun 2025: FINISHER! 🏁
First finish since 2022… Adèle wasn’t even born yet!

850 km of pure madness: rain all night in the Pyrenees, crazy winds in the mountains, endless climbs, and trails that wanted to break my legs AND my patience. But also… breathtaking landscapes, wild emotions, and that magical feeling of pushing past my own limits.

A huge thank you to Elo, my rock, for supporting me through every training, every doubt, and every moment leading up to this ❤️ To my two little princesses who “helped” me with my strength training 🥰, and to tio, who was with me every pedal stroke, I thought of you so much at Tres Cruces 💙

The pain is real, but so is the joy. And yes… I’m of course thinking about the next one. In the meantime: family time and some well-earned rest 🏔️

Been quiet lately, but not because I’ve been chilling!

Tomorrow at 8AM, I’m lining up for the Basajaun, a 842 km and 16.000m D+ loop of demanding gravel through some of the north of Spain’s most stunning (and brutal) landscapes ⛰️🌵
From the mountains to the Bardenas Reales desert, this is going to be a real test 🔥💪

I’d love to get a solid result…
But considering how my last two ultras ended, just finishing would already be a small miracle!

This time, I’ll be riding in .poulain kit, a Belgian brand that designs and produces its high-quality cycling apparel locally. Super proud to wear their gear for this one! 🇧🇪

You can follow my dot (link in bio), I’ll be cap 61.
Wish me luck!

𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧
It took me a few days to process what happened, reflect on it, and try to put it into words. As you’ve seen, I made the tough decision to end my way too early, after just 24 hours and 250 km.

So, what happened exactly? Here are a few thoughts:
I didn’t have the legs. From the very start, I felt it. Unlike other races, the feeling never came back. Would it have improved later? We’ll never know.

Usually, when the legs aren’t there, the mind takes over. But this time, it didn’t. Why? Good question.

The terrain was tough. Was that the reason? Definitely not helping at this stage. But normally, I’d push through.

Races are a balance of highs and lows. But here, I felt like I was only experiencing the lows.

No crash, no mechanical issues, just for the first time, I gave in to that little voice telling me to stop. Normally, I manage to silence it. This time, I didn’t. During the race, I even wanted to quit everything.

There wasn’t a single reason, just an accumulation of factors that led to this decision. And yet, only 24 hours later, I was already analyzing everything I could improve to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

It was a hard choice to make at the moment, and even harder to accept afterward. But that’s how it is, I have to move on. The prep wasn’t the smoothest, but I’m not making excuses. Some things need to be fixed, and I’ll come back stronger.

Will I return to Morocco one day to finish what I started? Too soon to say, but nothing is impossible.

What’s certain is that this “failure” fuels my motivation even more for the next challenge. See you in July for Basajaun! 🔥

Almost a year and a half after my last race, Bikingman X in Morocco, I’m back in the country for unfinished business reasons! 💪

Tonight, I start the at 6PM, a very demanding 1300km gravel route across the Atlas Mountains starting in Marrakech and finishing in Essaouira 🇲🇦

Counting on my trusty Baryon, my two-wheeled stallion, and my bags, the overworked mules, together, they’ll (hopefully) get me to my destination in one piece! ☀️

I’ll be cap 51 and you can follow me at https://amr25.maprogress.com/?bib=51 (link in bio)

Wish me luck 🍀

Who needs a filter when winter’s golden hour does all the work? Worth every frosty pedal stroke ❄️

The prep madness rolls on!

Snow makes me 10 years old again. Cycling in it? Not easy, but at least I don’t freeze 💪
The real magic is the landscapes: turns out, the Sonian Forest I thought I knew is a whole new world in white! ❄️

Exactly four weeks until the 🇲🇦
Time to panic just a little, pretend I’ve been training, and fine tune the setup 🛠️
Ready or not, here we go! 💪
