S1 EP6 - The Great Barrier Reef was out of play, with 3 consecutive days of solid 30 knot winds. In this episode, I find a sheltered land-based spot in Airlie Beach, targeting big pelagics using the Amanzi Lures Popper prototype made from recycled plastic milk bottles. Prototype testing passed! Hi Team! Some good news...after 2 years of learning the craft of lure making, and a year of hard spinning, drone'ing, GoPro'ing & editing, I am super pleased to be launching my Smithy Fishing YouTube Channel later today with a 7-part mini series titled 'Plastic to Pelagics.' The 7 videos span the east coast of Australia where my challenge is to hand make a lure from recycled plastic milk bottles, then use this lure to catch a solid Pelagic..ideally Longtail Tuna, Spano or GT!

Aside from documenting this incredible journey, the series carries a powerful & harrowing message of Ocean Plastic pollution and our role as Guardians of our precious playground.
