Rubbish collected by Catherine McAuley College students in one hour between the start of the O'Keefe rail trail and the Weeroona avenue bridge! Two and a half trolleys, traffic cone, road sign, iron sheets and plenty of plastic bottles!
In the paper again today!
As a kid, I rode my bike from White Hills to Golden Square. Very bumpy, but a fun, fast and (somewhat) safe way to get from one side of town to the other
Tomorrow morning from 8:30-2pm we’ll be hosting an Eco Hub in Rosalind Park, in and along the creek. Look for the folks in La Trobe uni shirts surrounded by greenery! You can’t miss us!
Just wanted to share our exciting experience we will be running this afternoon!! Meeting at the Scotts street car park
I love the Bendigo Creek, I love walking along it after a stressful day, I love learning about the plants that live alongside it. I just wish it was full of less plastic and human waste I think this would require a container deposit scheme or some super crafty planning. The weeds down my end (Spring Gully) are also a bit out of control.
Love walking around Kenny Res!

RE-IMAGINING BENDIGO CREEK
Bendigo Conservatory
Children's Art installation - Possums, pom poms, bats and books

Friday 27 September - Sunday 6 October
OPEN: Sat & Sun / 11am - 3pm
Weekdays / 11am - 3pm

The beautiful glass Conservatory in Rosalind Park has been transformed into an art installation to celebrate the Bendigo Creek regeneration project. Kathy Holowko has made giant pop up books with beautiful early naturalist imagery to learn about what was and what could be. The Bendigo Creek project has included consultation with the local Dja Dja Warrung community, and this work re-imagines the waterway as it once was and the life it sustained. Everyone is welcome to add to the local Whirrakee Wattle pom pom tree. Children can think about what animals they would like to see along the creek and write it in the big book of ideas, or they can make a little book of their own. All the while, a beautiful soundtrack will bring to life, the sounds of the babbling creek and the animals that we hope will inhabit it.

It's important to reflect with pride on the difference we make. Take a look at these photos of the same site at Leans Rd in the Bendigo Creek Streamside Reserve comparing today and when planted in 2013.

La Trobe University, Bendigo

Students from our five-week-intensive CityStudio and Environmental Dialogue subject were out and about in Bendigo this week, testing out their ideas for re-imagining the Bendigo Creek.

Four different activities took place as part of the students' goal to raise public awareness about the creek. Activities included mapping out creekbeds in the Bendigo Bank walkway, hosting a "Creek Day" with primary students, speaking to passers-by about the creek's presence under the CBD, and placing plants in Rosalind Park to envision a revegetated creek.

On Friday 27 July these students will present their ideas to the City of Greater Bendigo Council for consideration. Stay tuned for more as it happens.

If you have a story about the creek, or photos to share, you're invited to share it at the Love Bendigo Creek page, which you can find at www.facebook.com/LoveBendigoCreek.

City of Greater Bendigo

This week, La Trobe University students have been testing their ideas to reimagine the Bendigo creek.

These projects are part of CityStudio, a program which sees La Trobe University students from a range of disciplines work together with our staff to come up with new and creative projects.

Created in Vancouver, this is the first time the program has been run in Australia. Great to see some of the ideas the students have come up with so far 😀
