Been having a lot of questions about new pain, strains and discomfort in the lower leg and knee recently…

A lot of this will be down to exercising more as lockdown eases so your muscles and joints are in a little shock.

Look after yourself with taping and make sure that rest is part of any training program 💪🏻

[10/18/20]   We are now a long time into this pandemic and the country is in a recession.

If anyone is not working, not getting paid, has had their hours cut and runs out of food or necessities, or times are just tough, please don’t be afraid, too proud or embarrassed to send me a private message.

I will do anything I can to help. It may simply be a case of dropping off a food parcel and leaving. Talking you through your hard times or giving advice in my areas of expertise.

No one has to know, I’m here to help as much as I can.

With lots of sports getting back to training and competitive situations please take this time to get all your things in order as an athlete. Ask your GP, Doctor, Surgeon or any other medical team member for your Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) for a prohibited substance and/or method.

A TUE may be required when an athlete needs to take a prohibited substance for a proven medical condition, even asthma.

Rugby League update: RFL only

Detailed below are the projected timescales:

• Community Rugby League will have a phased return over several months
• The return of sports is phased depending on the level of contact and risk in each sport (i.e. why low-contact cricket returns ahead of a sport like Rugby League). Phasing also applies to the formats within each sport where applicable.
• The RFL’s detailed ‘Action Plan’ (as briefed to the community game on the 30th June) will be completed and sign off sought from the RFL’s Clinical Advisory Group (CAG), Sport England and Government by the end of July.
• This Action Plan, together with detailed guidance, will then be shared in full across the sport as part of the ongoing communication with community clubs/leagues/volunteers etc.
• The approval of Sport England and Government is required by all sports as the guidance for each sport will outline the mitigations which will allow social distancing to be breached in the narrow circumstances required for each sport during the activity. i.e. social distancing in every other respect remains – clubhouses, side lines, changing rooms etc.
• The Action Plan outlines a return of full-contact Community Rugby League no earlier than September – and subject to the full range of approvals from CAG and Government. • The Action Plan outlines a return of non and limited contact Rugby League in August – subject to the approvals. • Indoor facilities including gyms may reopen from 25 July subject to a comprehensive range of hygiene protocols, social distancing, and other mitigations.
• Community club activity at this time remains socially distanced outdoor activity in groups of no more than 6.

The RFL Participation and Development team work closely with Sport England, DCMS and other contact sports to inform the work on the detailed Action Plan and guidance for the safe return of all formats of the sport including Touch, Tag RL, Wheelchair RL, LDRL and PDRL as well as 13-a-side youth, junior and Open Age Rugby League.

There is no change to the guidelines we have previously issued which can be found below. Small sided fitness and skill based activity can take place with a maximum of six people, one of which must be a coach.

Lots of work and advice I’m part of often touches on the topic of supplements for training.

There are very respectable brands out there who spend time and effort developing the right things for the right outcomes so it’s all about doing your research.

The Informed Sport & Informed Choice branding means that the product is safely batch tested for contamination so that you can be fully sure of what you are putting into your body.

Check your sports guidelines for further information 👌🏻

How’s lockdown going for everyone?

Some foods to acknowledge now that we are considering getting activity back into our days and looking to drop a lb or two after sitting down too much.

21/06/2020

Far better results for us here in Wales.

Sooner we follow the guidelines better then the sooner we can all get back to normal.

Take care over these next few weeks as businesses reopen as we don’t want a second spike.

[06/19/20]   🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 JUST ANNOUNCED: Changes to Coronavirus rules in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

🛍 Non-essential retail can open ‪from Monday.‬

🏠 Stay local rules remain in place for next fortnight, except where there are compassionate reasons to travel.

📚 Schools will reopen, as previously announced, ‪on 29 June. ‬

💇‍♀️ Hairdressers can plan to reopen by appointment ‪in three weeks‬’ time.

‪🗓 From Monday 🗓‬

🛒 All non-essential retail will be able to reopen, if they can comply with the physical distancing duty.

🤸🏼‍♂️ Restrictions on a wide range of outdoor activities will be lifted, enabling outdoor markets and sports courts to open – but not for contact or team sports yet.

🛐 Places of worship will be able to reopen for private prayer.

👶 Childcare facilities will reopen on phased basis to support people returning to work.

🏡 Housing market will begin to reopen – viewings will be able to take place in vacant properties and sales, which were postponed can be completed.

‪🗓 From Monday 29 June 🗓‬

📚 As previously announced, pupils will return to school so they can check in, catch up and prepare for the summer and September.

‪🗓 From Monday 6 July 🗓‬

🔜 The Welsh Government will lift the requirement to stay local, if the scientific evidence supports this.

👉 This means that people are asked to stay local to keep Wales safe for two more weeks.

💕 From this Monday, people can travel beyond their local area where there are compassionate grounds to do so – for example to assist a vulnerable family member who has limited local support.

📑 Guidance will be published on the Welsh Government website in the coming days to help people make these decisions.

🗓 The next few weeks 🗓

💇 Hairdressers should use the next three weeks to make preparations to resume services by appointment only, with all the necessary safeguards in place.

🏖 If the cases of the virus continue to fall and the stay local requirement ‪is lifted on 6 July‬, people will be able to travel again to tourist attractions throughout Wales.

⏩ Reopening self-contained holiday accommodation will be reviewed on 9 July.

🔓 For other sectors in our economy, Welsh Government will use the next three weeks to discuss how lockdown can safely be lifted when the conditions are right.

A RFL rugby League update:

On the 28th May 2020, the Prime Minister announced that groups of up to six people will be able to meet outdoors in England from 1st June 2020. This was followed by an announcement on the 1st June 2020, by the Department for Digital Culture Media & Sport (DCMS) in conjunction with Sport England.

A press release confirming people will be able to exercise outside with up to five others from different households from 1st June 2020 was issued, provided that strict social distancing guidelines are followed.

The updated public guidance on a phased return for outdoor sport and recreation was also released on 1st June 2020.

Since this announcement they have been working on guidance for Clubs to ensure that any form of activity not only meets the Governments guidelines but the safety of our players is ensured at all times. If you wish to keep up to date on the latest advice from the RFL please visit rugby-league.com/coronavirus

WRU Community Rugby Guidance update:

The Welsh Rugby Union has clarified how the latest Welsh Government [COVID] guidelines, in force from Monday 1 June affect Welsh community rugby – in its latest WRU Status Update.

The national governing body has reminded all involved in the community game from players and parents to coaches, referees and volunteers – that all rugby activity is currently suspended and confirmed that in-depth guidelines will be issued and a thorough process will be followed before any organised community rugby activity is sanctioned in Wales.

However, for further clarity, the WRU has issued a guide to exercising safely within the current guidelines.

WRU Community Director Geraint John said, “While all organised rugby activity is currently suspended in Wales, we recognise that players, coaches, referees and volunteers throughout community rugby will be keen to step up their plans to get ready for the return of rugby, as and when that is deemed safe and in line with Welsh Government guidelines.

“We will be contacting all clubs, rugby groups and Female Hubs in due course with in-depth guidance to help with the return to play process. This will include online meetings and advice on getting facilities and people ready for when the time comes to start sanctioned training and off-field activity. The safety of all involved is the priority when developing and delivering these guidelines.

“Until that time, we urge everyone within the game to stay fit and active within the phased approach taken by Welsh Government.”

Key latest info in relation to Welsh community rugby:
•From Monday 1 June, all players, coaches and referees, in line with the rest of Welsh society are now able to train outdoors with members of their household and one other household, within five miles of their home.

•The two metre social distancing rule is still in place regarding members of another household – no physical contact is permitted – check out the WRU’s Stay Active programmes for guidance

•Personal hygiene is as important as ever. Wash hands regularly and do not share any training equipment – balls, cones etc – with members of another household. Do not share drinks bottles.

•All indoor club facilities remain closed in line with government guidance.

•All club-owned rugby pitches also remain closed while organised rugby activity is suspended

Now this is a better sign... cases reported are creeping down and more importantly the death told is down.

Please don’t spoil this progress by bending rules to fit your needs. We still have a little way to go before we can be back to normal again 👏🏻

Proud of the people who are doing their part for this cause.
