It's been a while since I've posted about my running. A while back, I thought nobody wanted to see it and thought I should keep it to myself.
A month or two ago, I met a lady in a coffee shop who said ur lady who posts about her running on Instagram ( it's inspiring). And I hadn't posted for a while.
About a month ago, I didn't run for two weeks and I'm back into running again, but I want to share it hasn't been easy. So I need my own inspiration now.
Xtera Wellington festival 6km
Waitarere Forest event 10km. Which when i ran came out to 11km. 1hr 30min
Rotorua Marathon 10km event. 1hr 20min. My favorite by far, went with a great bunch of people. I'm thinking I'll do the half next year.
Manawatu Striders. 10km event. 1hr 16mins. My fastest time in a 10km.
Wellington Marathon 10km event. 1hr 20min. Found this one a bit tough.
Now your all caught up.
I'm entering the Hutt Marathon. 10km event 17th September.
And after that........
Melbourne Marathon half marathon event in October which is why I need inspiration to get my fitness back up and keep running.
Two weekends ago I completed my 50th parkrun. I started going to parkrun in June 2021 and changed to otaki parkrun in September last year and have been consistent since going there. 🙃
FIT LIZ NZ
I am a qualified personal trainer and I like to share parts of my own personal fitness journey.
Operating as usual
Very quiet in the gym this morning.
For a while, I think I was the only one there.
Did a circuit workout this morning to get back into it. Haven't to the gym since before Christmas.
My circuit was:
Jog (between points)
Sit up with halo (5kg plate)
Burpee Squat press (10kg bag weight)
Bent over row (10kg bar)
Tyre flip with push up
Glute Bridge with 5kg plate
Work: 1.05min rest 25sec
Rest between sets 1min
This year I am aiming for consistency in my workouts and running.
Be awkward, be brave and be kind.
If you want to start something ask someone to do it with you, it's more fun and u might be less nervous.
Happy New Year!!!!
I started the year with little sleep and good intentions.
I went to an extra special New Year parkrun this morning, I ran (jogged) the whole way 5km. I am extremely proud to achieve this not once but twice in a row.
I know that I feel better mentally and physically when/after I exercise. And I intend to continue through this year putting my best foot forward.
Until next time:
Be awkward, be brave and be kind.
Today, I ran (jogged) lol the whole 5km at parkrun this morning. My time was good for me, and my pace was consistent.
But what I'm proud of is that I didn't put any pressure on myself to run the whole, I just let it happen, and I also enjoyed it.
I found this quote on Instagram today, and I realized putting one foot in front of the other can be enough sometimes.
I'm gonna end this with a quote from a podcast I listened to yesterday.
Be awkward, be brave and be kind.
After having covid and not doing any personal fitness activities, I am proud that I finished the paknsave whanganui 3 bridges event held today.
Volunteered at parkrun otaki yesterday and have now completed that 5 times. 4 at palmy parkrun and 1 time at otaki. I enjoy it as it means I can engage with people that also enjoy running/walking. We all go for coffee/breakfast after.
I wasn't sure how I would do today. But I am glad I finished and then enjoyed an evening at our gym friends Christmas party 🥳. Which is always a pleasure and fun time.
If you want to come running with me or run/walk.
Otaki river park run is a great place to start running walking in an inclusive environment.
I am happy to take people in my car from levin to otaki as long as u want breakfast/coffee afterwards.
Any start u make, you will gain benefit from it.
Went to parkrun this Saturday.
All my muscles were sore, it was a tough run yesterday morning.
Had the biggest coffee I've ever had yesterday with cute little marshmallows.
Eggs on toast with bacon and mushrooms, yum.
I enjoy running with the otaki river parkrun people.
Today I completed the 10km event at the Kapiti Half. Aim was an 1hr 20mins and I am proud to say I came in at 1hr 22mins. Not far off my fastest time of 1hr 21mins and with a little work I'll make 1hr 20mins. Definitely running at a bit of a incline and running past the finish for 1 km before turning around but I felt I handled it well.
3 events in 3 weeks, upto 35km in the last 3 weeks.
Ashurst to esplanade 12km
Feilding festival of running 10km
Kapiti half 10km
Small run on Tues last week 3km
Plus workouts at the gym and work as well.
I have found wearing my hat while running means my hair won't get in my eyes and sweat as well.
Kickboxing I love it.
performance247 great workout today. Loved the workout the music and the one on one turns as well.
I used to learn how to box with Hayden at shapeshifters years ago. Loved it then, good to know I still love it now.
Fastest 10km time achieved today.
1hr 21mins
Hardwork, dedication and enjoyment payoff.
Now to rest and recover for kapiti half 10km run next weekend.
Bought new running shoes as I've worn the tread off the bottom of my current pair.
I enjoy running/running and walking in events around the countryside.
( I'm not doing a lap for u dad)
Just gotta put that in there.
I didn't know about this run until after my 12km on Sunday just gone and I felt really good in the days following so recovery is definitely getting quicker.
If you see me out there, say hello and encourage each other.
Today I completed the Ashurst to esplanade 12km event. One of my good friends Marietjie Flores completed the 12km event also and ran back to run along with me to the finish line. Thank u for ur support.
She took some videos and photos of me running.
With McDonald's for treat afterwards.
1hr 40mins not a bad effort, wanted an 1hr 30min but proud of that time too.
Looking at probably entering fielding run next Saturday but got til Thursday to enter so will c how I'm feeling tomorrow and Tuesday.
If you want to enter and event, and want support then let's do it together?
My 10km time is 1hr 25-30mins, exercise/events are more fun with friends.

YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!!!!
(read that again)
YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!!
Lately my mental health hasn't been at its best.
Something that helps towards keep your mental health is good quality sleep which I haven't been getting.
Eating a good balanced diet with some treats of course.
Moving your body is important too at least 1/2hour per day, if u love yoga do that, walking with friends, running weights and group classes. Do what u love. Don't know what u love in regards to fitness exercise try things, I know it can be hard to put ur self out there but if u try u will find something.
The thoughts in your head can also affect you, most of my fat is located at my stomach so I definitely think I'm fat I'm huge I can't where that what will people think and round and round we go. I am constantly working on how I c myself. It is so important to think positive thoughts as much as possible, because when u think positively u shine.
So shine ladies and gentlemen.
If u need support reach out because I am positive there are others that need support too and life is more fun with friends.
Support can range from a person to work out with to lunch coffee and a chat.
Friends is anyone you enjoy spending time with.
Let's shine together ❤️
Lost my voice at the weekend and was reduced to a squeak.
Didn't sleep well last night so took this morning off from working out.
I've got ashurst to esplanade 12km in palmy on Sunday so want to get well so I can run my best.
Had eggs and avocado on toast with bacon for breakfast, yum go too favorite breakfast.
Bought pork, stir fry mix and brown rice to make lunches for the rest of the week. Going to try be prepared so I don't have to go what's for lunch today.
Focusing on getting healthy and then I can focus on fitness as well. Make changes slowly so you can make them permanent 💯 ✨️
My wonderful breakfast this morning.
I woke up feeling good this morning, not tired and with no pain so felt I deserved a good breakfast to start the day.
I loved how the clouds looked yesterday morning on the way to gym so took a moment to take a photo of it.
Feeling good.
I've signed up for kapiti half 10km event and whanganui 3 bridges 10.55km events 😀 so excited 😊
I am proud
I am excited
I am a runner
I have finally found my people
Today I pulled on my big girl pants and went to the parkrun in otaki. I normally go to palmy.
Today I ran majority of it and enjoyed a post run coffee and breakfast. It was the best and I felt I belonged.
I didn't have a good week sleep wise but I had a good week workwise, I'm feeling more comfortable there.
Ive joined a few more classes, kickboxing and barbell pump which at the time killed me but I love them. Feeling the benefits in my running.
for ur ongoing support and encouragement.
for joining me in working out at the gym, makes it more enjoyable to have someone to laugh and tough it out when it's hard with.
performance247 although u pick on me a bit, I've been enjoying the classes more lately and with ur help I will continue my journey with confidence.
Got my nails done this week also and have booked in for a massage next Saturday.
Lots to look forward to.
It's mental health and addiction awareness week!!!!
Does something for ur mental health not just this week but everyday.
One of photos available for purchase taken by the professional photographers on the day.
Heading towards the finish line.
Went to parkrun today, had a slower time today. Feeling the effects of 10km run, sore bits and bobs as well as a funny cold thing I've come down with. (Not covid). Also started a new job last week.
Otherwise Feeling good.
Super weekend in Rotorua.
Great weather.
Had a mini spa treatment on Sunday after my 10km run, had a facial and got our nails done. Lovely mini platter with wine afterwards.
The weekend was absolutely wonderful.
Super proud 🥰 of my efforts at the weekend.
Rotorua Marathon 10km event.
A massive trig like hill before the halfway point, my asthma hates hills like that and I had thoughts of I'm gonna have a bad time etc but I pushed through and was super stoked to finish with a good time compared to previous 10km events I've entered.
I'm consistent with my times and my fitness is getting so much better.
More photos to come.....
I am excited 😊. I am happy 😊. I am off to Rotorua to run a 10km at the Rotorua Marathon on Saturday.
This week I started a new job, stepped out of my comfort zone, my bubble as they say but I am happy 😊 I have.
Now to focus on Rotorua and have a good weekend.
This weekend I went back to parkrun. It was a beautiful morning for it.
Ran most of it. I wanted to stop running and have a small rest but couldn't pass up the opportunity to beat my parkrun friend to the finish line. 😄 while he was 'resting' I ran straight past him. Got a good time too.
Looking forward to attending the Rotorua Marathon next weekend. Hoping to meet Dom Harvey a well known kiwi Marathon runner. And have a good weekend away.
After a few weeks and life style changes I have made it back PARKRUN.
I ran most of it except the slippery bits which meant I got a good time of 39.35 which I'm stoked with.
I am happy to be back running.
Went along and watch a friend's kid play netball for the last time this season. She is a good at netball and if she keeps practicing will be in a good team next year.
I've been on the road of self discovery lately. It's not easy.
I've tried out new workout classes.
I've done a swim test at my local pool. I didn't quite pass but there's room for improvement.
Found a new technique for swimming, making it easier and needing to build endurance up.
Feeling very sore but knowing it's worth it.
With Rotorua Marathon coming up, I'm choosing not to panic as I can enjoy the experience.
Keeping up the training, one workout at a time.
A great way to give back to our community is by purchasing tickets to a fundraiser.
Proceeds are going to RDA
Riding For the Disabled.
I have the Rotorua Marathon that weekend and can't go.
But I've offered to purchase a ticket for anyone who wants to go but can't afford.
My sister Natalie loved RDA and it allowed her some freedom. Brought her out of her shell a bit and helped with balance.
RDA gives so much to the disabled and our community.
Let me know if u would like a ticket and I will pass on your info to Helen a member of altrusa and my friend.
After a week of sadness for our family privately.
I am back to working out at the gym classes and today I got back into yoga with Adrienne ( home 30 days of yoga with Adrienne).
When the stink weather goes away I'll get back to running outside. 🏃♀️
Might even go to parkrun on Saturday.
It's surprising after only missing 1 week how much you lose in balance, endurance and coordination which is not great to begin with.
Found trx hard this morning and forgot my drink bottle yesterday which did not make the workout any easier but glad to be back.
Trying not to over do it.
I have achieved so much in the last year and half.
Waitarere great forest events 10km April 2021
Manawatu Striders event 10km May 2021
KapitiHalf run the Coast 21.1km November 2021. Going to sign up for this one again this year.
Hawkes bay marathon 10km May 2022. I am keen to do this one again as I enjoyed the whole experience.
Manawatu Striders event 21.1km May 2022
Wellington marathon 10km June 2022
My next one is
Rotorua Marathon I'm completing the 10km event.
I would like to run the whole 10km and time doesn't matter, currently consistently running 5km which I have achieved twice at parkrun.
The Hutt has an event on the same weekend as the Rotorua one if anyone is interested. I have the flyer with entry information.
But to finish and enjoy the day is more important.
Show me your rewards for believing in yourself/stepping out of ur comfort zone.
