A detailed study of how you weight and unweight your skate ski for One Skate (🇺🇸 V2) can improve the power of your skate push. We have drills that break down and teach this skill for members of Nordic Ski Lab.
Nordic Ski Lab
Ski fast, faster.
Learn classic & skate skiing techniques with online videos, technique analysis, expert demos (World Cup & Olympic athletes), drills & explainers.
Operating as usual
Athletes use a wider stance for skate skiing uphill with 🇨🇦 Offset (🇺🇸 V1 Skate) than in the past because it helps prevent over stepping. Just like in running, overstepping in offset can result in a loss of momentum. It takes awhile to get the knack of it, but once you do, you'll never go back to old offset.

Work the downhills.
Glide wax might have something to do with the speed difference, but an important piece of the puzzle is strategy and technique.
Every part of the trail is a chance to ski well and make up time.
Don’t put all your energy into the uphills. Save some juice so you can ski better on the flats and downhills too. It’s a fun and interesting opportunity to work on your technique!
