Following the legacy of Head Coach, Veni Iuli, ‘Emerge Training’ is a basketball program aimed at developing each individual. In 2021, Veni coached Tauranga Boys College Senior A to an undefeated year. His coaching style placed a high emphasis on building a strong foundation on what he called ‘the fundamentals’. This would see a high level performance of these skills; footwork, dribbling, shooting, and passing.

This program has seen significant development of players across all skill levels. Two young men from TBC, who also attended the ‘Bay Community Basketball’ program are now in the United States, having been given full scholarships to play basketball and study. This program would seek to further assist young men in achieving at this high level.

My name is Corban Laban-Palmer. I have been involved in this basketball program for 6 years — since 2017. I have gained a wealth a knowledge from Veni, and I hope to continue his legacy in seeing young hoopers elevate their game.

As many of you know, Veni has moved over to Perth and handed the program into my hands.

I have been in the process of finalising the TBC main gym for morning trainings in term 2 & 3.

I will have more information for you in the coming weeks.
