Scorpion of the week is 🏆 Porter!

The whole team faced a massive challenge against a heavily favored team at the weekend just gone.
But Porter was undeterred by the odds! He displayed incredible tenacity, carving two goals out of sheer willpower and determination in a lung busting performance! ⚽️⚽️

Then tonight in training Porter was ‘dynamite’ as he aced it in the possession drills with tremendous pass and move football! Before finishing off with the top bin challenge as champion 🏆

Excellent work Porter well done! 💪👏👏👏

It was our annual team bonding Bowling afternoon yesterday 🎳 And what a great time we had!

Not content with his 2 goals on the morning, Porter was also the kingpin on the lanes taking home the trophy 🏆

Less could be said about Gary who took home the ‘wooden spoon’ for sh*ttest adult 🥄😆

Then after 1000s of tickets were won on the amusements the boys tore up the crazy golf ⛳️ Louis & Saul could not be separated and it took 2 rounds of sudden death before Louis proved victorious! 💪

The coaches would like to thank all the parents for their lovely gifts! 🩵

Silksworth Youth FC Scorpions vs Farringdon Detached (Sunday Team)

The final match of the pre season before the league returns this Saturday and it was a hard-fought encounter against one of the top teams in the Sunday football. If that wasn’t enough it had the added spice of being an SR3 derby.

Our team put in an excellent performance, showing determination and skill throughout the match. From the first whistle, we played with intensity, moving the ball swiftly and creating chances.

Our defense was tested early on but the team responded well keeping the opposition at bay with some solid tackles and great positioning.

Going forward, we played with creativity, often catching the opponents off guard with quick counter-attacks. Despite some close chances, including shots that rattled the post at both ends neither team were able to find the back of the net in the first half.

Then finally we scored with a great goal under pressure from Samuel ⚽️ but Farringdon had an instant reply 😩

Though the result wasn’t in our favour at the full time whistle the team can take pride in the performance! Especially against such high-quality opposition. There were plenty of positives to build on, there’s plenty of reasons to be optimistic for the season ahead!

Man Of The Match: 🏆Jude!
Who was relentless on the wing. His tremendous work rate stood out as he consistently tracked back to help his teammates then in a flash was back up the field trying to propel attacks. Tremendous work! 👏👏👏

Penultimate Pre-Season friendly in the morning for the boys before the League returns next weekend.

It’s certainly not going to be an easy test as the boys face Foundation Of Light Pumas. A team that finished just behind us last season and have been promoted alongside ourselves.

With a few of the boys missing due to the holiday season, this weeks winner was solely picked on how well they trained this evening.

In a nonstop session packed full of different drills, Isaac really stood out in each to be a worthy winner! 🏆

From passing & moving, to footwork & finishing Isaac’s was top drawer! But what really stood out is some of his volleys in the “3v3 FootyTennis” we played and scoring the winner in “Wembley Pairs” ⚽️💪

Scorpion of the week is 🏆 Oliver!

Our very own defensive rock is basically Sergio Ramos, Paolo Maldini and Bobby Moore all rolled into 1 and he is called Oliver!

What a game he had in Saturday’s friendly victory marshalling the back line. From perfectly timed challenges to exquisite passing we saw it all from Oliver! 💪

We are a firm believer in train the way we play and Oliver certainly did that this evening in training! Showing great confidence in bringing the ball out from the back and finding the killer pass.

It’s a been a while since we finished the session on a “Last Man Standing Penalty Competition” And can you guess who was victorious???
You guessed it Oliver! ⚽️🏆

Silksworth Youth FC Scorpions v Hetton Milan

After the disappointment last Saturday when our opposition didn’t turn up, leaving us stood drenched on a half empty pitch. ☔️
Attentions turned to this morning in the sunshine 🌞 as the boys continued life at 9aside in the RFYL Taster matches against Hetton Milan.

The first half of the match was a challenging one for the team, as they faced a resilient defensive line from the opposition. Despite the difficulty, the boys played some exceptional football, creating several chances.

However, the breakthrough seemed elusive until Samuel found half a yard of space and unleashed a powerful shot that burst into the net. It was a much-deserved goal that gave the team a lead going into halftime. ⚽️

The second half saw a masterclass from the boys as they adopted a more risky attacking strategy. This approach paid off spectacularly, resulting in a seven-goal bonanza, with five of those goals scored by the Scorpions!

The goals were a testament to beautiful team play and effective counterattacks. The scorers were:

* Samuel⚽️
* Leo⚽️
* Louis⚽️
* Saul⚽️

Overall, it was an impressive performance that showcased the team's resilience and tactical prowess.

Ashwath's performance stood out throughout the game. He was consistently a threat involved in both offensive and defensive plays, showing exceptional skill and determination. Including a well deserved goal that he finished off superbly! ⚽️ A hero of a display 💪

The 9aside Taster League continues and it has been a last minute change of opposition. It was meant to be a team from the 5th Division but now the boys have a stiffer challenge at hand as they will be squaring off against Chester Le Street Golds from Div2.

More experience points in the bag is why we are doing it especially with the new rules including offsides and no retreating, really looking forward to seeing the boys out on the grass at the Russell Foster Centre.

Scorpion of the week is 🏆 Oliver!

1 word to describe Oliver’s defensive performances in Saturday’s match and in training this evening is him being an absolute “Rock!” 🪨

Oliver’s display in our 9aside taster game at the weekend saw him take home joint man of the match. He showed a great understanding of the offside rule and Oliver really put his body on the line for the team! 💪

In training Oliver smashed all the drills we did, showcasing excellent 1 touch passing and moving. Once again he was not letting nothing or no one get past him in defence with top notch timing of the tackle and excellent reading of the game. Basically been an absolute ROCK! 🪨

Tremendous work Oliver! Well done! 👏👏👏
