Now the post-bumps blues have settled, it's time for the Fantasy Bumps Summer Eights round up.
Firstly, thank you to everyone who played - We have over 350 entries this event - and congratulations again to ChumpsStandAsAnnounced for winning the prize for the best name.
At the top of the leaderboard, we had four teams breaking the 5000🦀 mark, with RowingOnResults narrowly missing out on making an appearance in that select group. PedaloAnnihilator put in a strong showing with third place 🥉, matching their third place in Torpids, and having been just edged out for second place 🥈 by TheRealHTF, sitting 3🦀 higher. The win 🥇 however goes to long-time player UCBCsfittestrower with a stunning 5285🦀.
UCBCsfittestrower also won the Golden Cob 🏅 for the best performing women's team, while LeggingsOverUnisuit won the Golden Pen 🏅 for the best performing men's team. We also have prizes for FreeSpeedOphile as the best newcomer and BoysInRed for the best crew with no subs!
Commiserations to the 21 crews that ended up with fewer crabs than they started with, and in particular to CorpusM8ties, winner of the Ugly Ducking prize.
Finally, we leave you with news that we intend to run Fantasy Mays in a few weeks, and are hoping to introduce some new features for Torpids 2026!

Don't worry, every crew not racing will be awarded a technical row over and be awarded crabs at the standard rate!
The decision puts an interesting twist on the crew selection though - Do you bet big on a couple of seats to bump in Div1 and then pad the crew with safe row overs? Or pick more seats from Div3 to get more (but less individually valuable) bumps?

What a day! If today's weather doesn't have you LARPing as a lobster already, let's see if your crews were able to pick up some 🦀 crabs 🦀 on their first day of racing.
👨💻👩💻 To get the boring stuff out of the way, something went wrong and there were no updated results for the last three divisions. Crews' results from today will be bundled up with tomorrow's results so payouts will be supercharged for those divisions! 👨💻👩💻
If you went with John's M1 or M2 – the only crews to overbump and climb three places 📈📈📈 – count yourself lucky. But for every high there must be a low and any crews involving choppers from Somerville M1 or Corpus Christi M2 will have had a less successful day.
On the popularity rankings, Oriel M5 lead the men's scoreboard with a shocking 88% of crews containing one of these big boys on average 😍 The women's rankings are led by Keble W2 and a corresponding popularity score of 54%.
The markets will now re-open until the start of racing 💹

And we're off again! While the Oxford rowing season is in the tail end of term, Cambridge are just reaching the main event with Lent Bumps starting tomorrow, and Fantasy Bumps is here to cover that too!
Markets will be open until 13:30 tomorrow for the first race at 14:00. Lents happens over five days and not every crew races every day, so make sure you're picking crews in divisions which race (otherwise you'll just get rowover payouts)

Now that we've all had time to nurse our hangovers, I'm excited to announce the winners of Fantasy Bumps 2023! 🏆
The three highest-ranked crews (based on combined men's and women's crew scores) are
1. QueenOfTheIsis (5927 🦀)
2. Disfuligee (5859 🦀)
3. Thijs (5738 🦀)
It should be noted that the top 10 scorers' final men's crews included exclusively members of Hertford M1 – whether this is a bug or not isn't exactly clear (if you're the creator of one of these, please let us know), but well-deserved from the boys in red 🦌🦌
The less glamourous award of Fantasy Footship goes to LionKillerxd, followed closely by – you guessed it – yeahhqueens, yeahhhqueens and
yeahhhhqueens. Maybe they would've done better had they included members of Queen's W1 who got Blades, instead of the men's crew.
As a final note, having witnessed Covid-19, the Beast from the East and – dare I even say it – Tug of Warpids, it's been an absolute pleasure to watch and compete in a relatively normal Torpids on green flag. We love rowing and we'll never shut up about it 🦀❤️

What a day it's been. Pembroke M3 banked it and cost those who'd banked on their rowing on performance a fair few crabs 📉📉, Mansfield W2 managed to drop an entire division 😱 and we have two new men's and women's headships 🏆🏆
As expected, the leading fantasy boats of day one are not particularly diverse, with most entering two or more rowers of some high-performing crew. But this strategy can backfire horrendously, as yeahhqueens, yeahhhqueens, and yeahhhhqueens had to learn... 🤯🤯
Univ continues to dominate the men's popularity rankings 🥵 with their M1 and M2 ranking first and second, respectively. Peter's W1 and Keble W2 remain the two most favoured women's crews 😍
Markets are open until 11:30am, so now is your chance to go shopping if you gained some crabs yesterday, or to cut your losses...

With less than 3 hours to go until racing (remember, entries close at 11:30am), there have been over 300 entries already 😱
Word is on the street (the river?) that there might be some extra crabs 🦀 for the best crew names. These bonuses will be completely arbitrary and based on the erratic humour of our webmaster, so don't blame me if your favourites miss out 😘
As of 9am on Wednesday morning, Univ M2 are leading the popularity rankings for men's crews with a score of 0.68 📈📈 That means on average two out of three entries includes a Univ M2 rower! Peter's W1 remain crowd favourites with a score of 0.5 😍
Some other highly favoured crews include Keble W2 and W3 – it looks like their rowing on results left a serious impression – and Queen's M1. In the first divisions, the markets indicate Wolfson M1 and Oriel W1 are expected to cause a big upset ⚡⚡ Will they be proven right, or will we see some unexpected bumps 💥 today? Stay tuned...
