First day with wetsuit. It's always a habit you have to get into it again. Got a little chafing on the neck. Yes, I forgot to buy Vaseline.
Today I managed to dry my wetsuit in the afternoon and it was great.
Today the water was murky and it's not fun to swim then.
I met my dear friend Ayhan Kutlu who also swims long-distance. He swims along the Turkish coast in ettaps.

The crossing of the Åland Sea began where the blue lines diverge and from there to the Åland side it was 33.3 km of open water. Nice to get ashore I thought and took off my wetsuit and packed up my things from the kayak, then I see a sign in the distance go look for what it says and my fears are real it says that it is forbidden to disembark. So then I get to pack up all my things. I decided to swim without a wet suit as I had no strength left to put it on, 700 meters more and there I pitched the tent. Listening to the weather report it's going to blow up and that meant I couldn't stay the next day and rest as was the plan. I had to swim inland, but since I didn't dare to swim through the Fairway in the strong wind, it would have been the straight track to Mariehamn. So I decided to take a detour, and these are the distances I swam the next day, the 33.3 kilometers across the Åland Sea. The next day I swim 9 kilometers and I don't get any further because it's windy and I have to go ashore, I didn't sleep any more that night and I thought the tent would blow in the rain. The next morning we set off again, swam a bit off some small islands for a few kilometers but then it became more open and then the lake got rougher with waves around 1-1.5 meters. But at regular intervals it came with the waves probably twice as high, on these occasions I had my kayak on top of me impossible to swim. Still, I managed to swim 11 kilometers that day. Once ashore I set up the tent and then I take a detour and again find a sign that says it's a bird protection area, It's just for me to move further up the island shelter from the wind and possible conservationists if there are any far out in the archipelago. What should I do now where should I go it would be windy for many days, I decided to swim up to Mariehamn and it was a distance of 24.6 km and it was the third day after that swam 33.3 km across the Åland Sea. a photo note, half of the sailboats that these days were supposed to compete in up Gotland around had to cancel the competition.
Day 51 I finished with 21.8 kilometers.
The weight of the kayak over the Åland Sea is more than 100 kg.
Last day still a weight of over 70 kg.

Hi guys, I swam this summer 544 km, last summer 198 km and in 2021, 328 km. I used the Marlin Swim meter for navigation between all the islands and for my swim across the Åland Sea 33.3 km. During these more than 1000 km, I got off course twice, it was my own fault when I chose not to listen to Marlin. Those times I had to pay dearly for making my own choices.
For your own safety when swimming longer distances that are not along the shore equip yourself with a Marlin Swim Meter.
