ITA'S SEAL THE DEAL AT FORTRESS BALLYMASTONE
AFL DIV 5 NTH: St. Ita's 4-0 Ashbourne Utd
Only needing a home win against Ashbourne United to clinch the Division 5 North title,St. Ita's afforded themselves the luxury of leaving Barry Langton on the bench this evening.
For a while it looked like being a decision that might come back to bite them but Ciaran O'Donoghue eased the nerves when he opened the scoring with 10 remaining in the first half.
Just before the hour mark, the ever-reliable Niall Manton gave Ita's a cushion and the form being shown by Aido Kenny and Niall Tormey ensured there was no way back for a gallant Ashbourne.
The celebrations began when Rory Clerkin tapped home a third with 17 remaining on the clock and Phil Farmer came in to contribute with an excellent three or so minutes.
Brendan 'Stoney' Rogers wrapped up the scoring with an excellent individual goal with a couple remaining and the boys were off to The Brook to celebrate an unbeaten campaign and a league title.

🟢⚪️ Senior Section Results 🟢⚪️
A mixed weekend for our Senior Men's Teams last weekend...
🟢 The 1st Team lost 4-1 at home to an excellent Hardwicke FC side, who came storming out of the blocks and raced into a 3-0 lead inside 25 minutes. We feared the worst as we were then reduced to 10 men, but a magnificent effort from the lads saw us steady the ship and get it back to 3-1 after a John Scott header found the net, but Hardwicke killed the game with a 4th 5 minutes from time. We go again!
🟢 The 2nd Team had a brilliant 4-1 win at home to Bridge United! Bridge took the lead but the lads dusted themselves down and came roaring back and secured a massive 3 points after goals from Reece Daly (2), Andy Keane and Craig Somerville. The win keeps the pressure on leaders Earl Celtic, who sit 4 points ahead of us whilst we have a game in hand - should be a cracking run in!
🟢 The 3rd Team followed up last weekend's heroics with another 4-3 win, this time away to Clonee United!! Kevin Carr found the net and Big Dan Berrigan took the plaudits after bagging a brilliant hatrick - another fabulous team effort from the lads to bring home the points which sees the us move into 5th place!
🟢 The Over 35s had a tough first outing of the season as a very strong Corduff FC side ran out 4-0 winners...there'll be brighter days ahead for the parish masters!
🟢 The Under 18s won the local braggig rights as we beat a determined Swords Celtic FC side 3-1 on Sunday morning! A real battle played out in Ballymastone but our lads secured the poi to with goals from Eoin Diskin, Conor Kane and Kingsley Nwodo - its great to be back to winning ways lads!
💚 Thanks to everyone who came out over the weekend to support the lads 💚

So after a long season we finally finished out the league in 3rd spot. After going well through the middle of the season we found it tough going towards the end, mainly down to weddings and stags.... no names mentioned of course. We will look to get going again in the middle of Feb. Anyone who is interested in coming on board , please drop a dm on the page and someone will be in contact.
On a personal note I just want to thank all the lads who battled week in week out and kept pushing through the pain, which there's a lot more of as you get older. We had an awards night a couple of weeks ago in The Brook Pub and I think all had a good night. Results below.
Thanks to Eagle Distribution Group for sponsoring the Jerseys when we started back a few years ago, and wouldn't have got back with out them.
Anyways , looking forward to next season *he says hesitantly*
Players player of the year: Jonathan Kane
Top goalscorer: Brendan Rogers
Goal of the season: Niall Tormey (only just)
Thanks to all the lads again.⚽️⚽️💚🤍💚

Hi All
Firstly thanks to everyone that has made a generous donation. Just to provide you with a quick update on the N2 cycling challenge. I have been contacted by the organising Charity Cycle Against Su***de to inform me that unfortunately they have had to postpone the upcoming cycle until May 2023. Unfortunately I am currently not in position to commit to this date at the moment. I have contacted the Charity and have been informed that Eventmaster will arrange to refund all donors on their respective cards that payments were made on, this may take a couple of days to process.
Once again many thanks for the generous donations and support.
David

Tomorrow we travel to Dunboyne for a top of the table clash and a 6 pointer. After last week's massive performance and result in horrendous conditions the lads will get out there and give it their all again
