👏🏻𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕

With last Saturday’s apocalyptic forecast coming to fruition, the 1st XI unfortunately finish their WCCL Division Four season agonisingly in third place with all games now completed and all results confirmed.

Firstly, big congratulations to Coastal Cobras on securing the league title - we kept pace right throughout the season and with a hard-fought win against the Cobras in Week 15 were well-placed to challenge for the title. And secondly, to for pipping us to the post for the last promotion spot on the final day of the season.

Looking back, tough back-to-back defeats at the business end of the season are hard to take, but we reflect on a successful season as a team and can be proud to have been challenging for consecutive promotions right up to the last round of fixtures - we’ll be back stronger than ever and ready to mount another challenge in 2027.

To all the players who have turned out for the 1st XI and given up their Saturdays, Skipper Tom Dixon for leading the charge stoically all year in the face of some challenging weeks for selection, our loyal fans who have kept up support for the boys on the sidelines of The Rec, and to everyone who has engaged with us across our social media channels this season, we thank you.

Over the coming weeks and into the close season we’ll be reflecting back on the 2026 season, so keep your eyes peeled👀

🚨 For the final time in 2026, your 1st XI ahead of this Saturday’s crunch, all to play for game away to .

Back to back defeats have left the 1st XI teetering in joint second place in the league - nothing less than a win, results elsewhere going our way, and the inclement forecast holding off are needed to secure promotion to WCCL Division 3.

We know what we have to do. Let’s do it👊🏻

❌ Another week, another untimely defeat for the 1st XI as hopes of promotion now rest on the final game of the season this coming Saturday.

Not much to write home about from last weekend’s game against Winsley - ’s welcome return to form yielded an excellent 65 runs, however this was in vain as the 1st XI fell 81 runs short attempting to overhaul the 301 runs required for victory. All credit to a spirited Winsley who completely out-played with both bat and ball.

❌ A day to forget for the 1st XI on Saturday as they succumbed to an 8 wicket defeat at the hands of Beckington, despite a Liam Sumsion half century (61) providing some resistance.

The hunt for the league title now relies on no less than winning the remaining two games, and hoping results elsewhere go our way.

Back to it this weekend as we host Winsley Cricket Club at The Rec👊🏻

🚨 Few changes to the 1st XI who travel to Beckington this Saturday; knowing nothing less than a dub is needed to keep the pressure on the league leaders with the title race officially hotting up.

Liam Sumsion and George May co-captain in Skipper Dicko’s absence, whilst there’s a long overdue return for .

☑️ A brutal second hundy of the season for set the foundation for the 1st XI as they emerged victorious in a crunch battle with Coastal Cobras last weekend.

Baz bashed his way to 139 which included no less than 11 sixes as the ball was peppered 360 degrees around The Rec, and was ably supported with crucial knocks from Skipper Tom Dixon (63) and (61*) - the latter effectively batting on one leg after copping a blow to the foot early on in the match. The innings ended with the 1st XI racking up an imposing 349-6.

In reply, Coastal Cobras scored with great freedom and at above the required run rate for the majority of the innings, however crucial wickets were picked up at regular intervals coupled with some excellent ground fielding and catching which ultimately saw the Cobras finish 282-8 from their 45 overs to give the 1st XI a deserved dub by 67 runs. Wickets were shared around, with George May , Joe Williamson and Connor Assinder picking up two apiece.

With the gap at the top now down to single figures, the 1st XI travel to the in-form Beckington this coming Saturday.
