THE Conestoga Trail Run - 10 Tough Miles THE Conestoga Trail Run - 10 Tough Miles is on Sunday September 28, 2025.

This years race has been cancelled emails were sent to all registered runners.

I have been watching the situation happening at Kelly’s Run Preseve. If you are not familiar there has been an increase of yellow jackets and nests on the trail which have led to rescues on the trail and ultimately to the CLOSING of the preserve. The lots are closed down and chains across the lots. Already one race scheduled for this weekend 9/7 has been cancelled.
After speaking with the conservancy this week there is no guarentee that the preserve will be open for our race on September 22nd as we were told it’s “not looking good”…….and there is no way to foresee what will happen between now and and then.
We always have yellow jackets on the course and we also make sure folks are prepared and know about their presence. This year is just out of control and the measures taken of removing them have also been problematic as more nastier nests are popping up.
I would love to move forward and not have to cancel the event which is loved by so many, however, I also have to take into consideration the thoughts and guidance of landowners and the Conservancy and in this case what the yellow jacket nests have been doing to folks on trail and resue personnel. At this time I have to officially post-pone the event. I am looking to see about moving it to a later date but many things would have to align for that to happen as well. An official email to all registered runners will also be sent out. Just wanted to get the information out as much as I can. I sincerely apologize and please know this is outside of my control. I would have never thought a race would be cancelled due to a situation like this and trying to still keep it together in hopes the situation may change appears very unrealistic within the next two weeks per my conversations with the conservancy. The Conservancy has been hard at work trying to resolve the situation and I truly appreciate all their efforts and the amazing work they do.
