Basketball Nights have been moved to Thursday and Friday nights ONLY!

🚫 NO SCHOOL – NO BASKETBALL POLICY 🚫

School aged children/students who haven’t attended school or are lacking attendance are unable to participate in the Warruwi Basketball Competition.

This also applies to parents/guardians. If your child/children are not attending school regularly, you are unable to participate in the Warruwi Basketball Competition.

This is a ‘Policy’ our Senior Elders/Leaders/Traditional Owners and WARC stand by very strongly.

“It is very important our children are getting the best education” says T/O Jenny Inmulugulu

This will come into effect Thursday August 25th, 2022.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the Wellbeing Team at the WARC Office between 8:00am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Are you excited for the KURRUNG FESTIVAL coming up in September?

Warruwi has new sets of jersey's for both our Women & Men's Basketball team as well as the Men's Football team all thanks to our sponsors Yagbani Aboriginal Corporation & WARC.

Also, a BIG thank you to previous Wellbeing Coordinator Leah Thelma Narul for having them designed for us!

We encourage young women from the ages between 16-25yrs as per our funding agreement to participate for KURRUNG. This is a part of what they call 'Quick Response Grant'.

Please note; This DOES NOT exclude anyone from the age of 25yrs + we encourage all adults to try out in making the team.

TUNESQUAD IN THE MEN'S DIVISION HAVE TAKEN 1st SPOT AFTER DEFEATING WILDCATZ IN A NAILBITING GAME.

CONGRATULATIONS TUNESQUAD!!!

IN THE WOMEN'S DIVISION ARNHEM REMAIN ON TOP OF THE LADDER AFTER A DRAW AGAINST GARLMAYA.

THUNDER HAVE MOVED UP THE LADDER TO 2nd SPOT CONSIDERING THEIR LOSS TO GBI GUMMAZ.

ROUND 21 has been postponed.

Warruwi Basketball Competition will recommence on the 18th of August with the Men's kicking off at 7pm and our Women's will kick off Round 21 the following night (Friday 19th) at 6pm.

WILDCATZ & TUNESQUAD ARE EQUAL ON FIRST SPOT WITH WILDCATZ IN FRONT BY PERCENTAGE (0.77%).

ARNHEM REMAIN ON TOP OF THE LADDER CONSIDERING THEIR LOSS TO THUNDER LAST NIGHT.

YS&R would like to take the opportunity now to thank everyone for a fantastic effort so far and also would like to remind the community that the competition belongs to the community and it is dependent on volunteers. Thank you to all our volunteers who give up their time week in, week out in making the competition possible.

As a community, we will continue to use Basketball as an incentive to re-engage our young people back to school. Education is the number one key to success and each child has a right to have access to education.

We also encourage the community to have a read of our 'CODES OF CONDUCT' and remind themselves that we abide by the COC. Any complaints, swearing and/or using any derogatory language or inappropriate behavior will be looked at by relevant sources and a decision will be made whether we give you as a player, spectator, administrator or a parent a warning or to have you removed from the premises (HALL). To have a competition, we also have to have a policy in place to guide us in how we can better the competition, play fair and to also have fun.

If anyone has any questions about the CODES OF CONDUCT please feel free to come and have a chat with the YS&R team, we will make sure we make ourselves available.
